Yes, it will be interesting to see how Mitchell Trubisky develops. His stats from last season were great (especially his accuracy - completion percentage and lack of interception) but this is really a small body of work. On the other hand, the Bears have been without a great QB for a long time...so I guess you have to do something.

This is by far my favourite moment of the draft.

Just soaking the last bits in before another 4 months of no football.

Cowboys 2nd round pick

yeah, the little tape there is looks quite reassuring, but we gave up way too much with the trade up (getting played by a rookie GM in the process . if the thinking was "QB no matter what", I would have been more ok with Watson #3. but well, Pace might be looking for something different in a QB apparently (I just hope its not the totally vanilla and mediocre type - Glennon, Sanchez...), I have no idea. and I fear trubs not being able to beat out Marquise Williams at UNC for 2 years might have been a maturity issue?

I think Glennons contract only has 2.5 mill guaranteed after year 1. So that's not an issue for the Bears.

Yes they gave up a lot But we don't know what else was going on in the background with other teams and never will. If Trubisky is a Franchise QB then his cost is not prohibitive.

How long is it since the Bears have had a real one? Answer is they haven't really ever, Cutler especially in his early Bear years was the closest They came. McMahon wasn't one he won a Super Bowl down to one of the top 3 defenders ever and a running game behind a half decent running back we know as 'Sweetness'. Harbaugh had a couple of good seasons again behind a defence loaded still with aging talent and Neal andersons good seasons.

The sensible thing for me here is for Chicago to sit Trubisky behind Glennon for a year maybe give him some garbage time for the experience. Maybe give him a couple of late season starts to get used to the NFL after a lot of observation and practice but not to hurry him along. Then start loading up on weapons and lineman for him then hand him the keys to the offence.

Trubisky has accuracy and a quick release, he has a good but not great arm and is a good athlete. He's inexperienced at the college level, immaturity at college level in early years we can look past that, I am not bothered if my 18 year old needs to grow up!! I am bothered when my 22 year old playing professional needs to. His footwork needs some tidying up to, but that's down to him getting taken out on to the practise field and working on those reps. I would give him videos of both Montana and Brees and let him study them until training camp then get his QB whisperer out on the field with him to break down and drill this until second nature.

He will never have Cutlers arm ( which was and always will be a cannon, he also won't have his problems I feel). I think a Trubisky will be a slow burner but I also think in a few years he will expertly run an NFL offence if his team support him to do so.

That's such a very optimistic view. I watched a video yesterday saying that team are looking for potential in a QB now rather than pedigree. That's why trubisky was ranked so high in that draft. On such a small sample evaluators saw less of what they don't like. The only hope is to give him a couple of seasons on the bench to mature.
On another topic I'd like to see how Mixon will fare behind à terrible OL with every defender in the league trying to hurt him

When you look at other QBs that has been drafted with less than a season of starting experience, it's rather a good sign when they show a lot of promise on a small sample.

Cam Newton springs to mind.

Cam Newton is litteraly the only one year college starter with any mesurable success in the NFL. And you can't compare their athleticism. And look at him this year when defenses around the league started targetting him. He didn't handle it like most pros in the game...

I saw a list of QBs drafted with a rather short resume, can't remember where though. I was really surprised at how good it looked.
