The aim isn't to injure, it's to say "get rid of the ball or you're getting hit hard", that's football, Rodgers could see him coming and had the opportunity to throw it away. If it was a blind hit i'd feel different, but it wasn't.

and this is why good lineman are paid a premium and LT especially so. Its often said that a LT is the second most important position on the team to find after the QB for rebuilding franchises.

hmm, "legal" hit but dirty play. Why not playing it hard but smart? Thought that game is about making plays with or against the ball (!)

Rodgers got rid of the ball with enough time left for Barr to decide how he wants to attack the ball-less player. Instead of lowering the collision energy (physically spoken) by using the palm of his hands to shove Rodgers hard to the ground, he (Barr) decided to pull through and make use of his full movement energy he has loaded up until that point. The fact that Barr knew the ball was out but still tackled Rodgers like fighting devil back to hell, makes it a dirty play. No?

The hypothetical palm hand and shove situation could have also led to a collorbone fraction but with the little difference of a clean play; the injury then would have been accidentally, not forced.

looking forward who is next to be taken out by a dumb-ass play.

Cheeshead, have you gotten any news out of reviewing the coaches film?

I still think GB has the weapons to make it to the PO. WR room is great, run game starts to run , but MM has to stop making dumb decisions and play calls on 3rd an short, defense has to make plays against 3rd and long, Hundley has to get rid of the bubble gum he chews since birth and to stop making stupid throws.
Why MM doesnt gave Ty a rest with his rib injury stays a mystery. Why not making use of the other 2 rookies as Jones' backup? At least Mays looked good in preseason to make use of him as a 3rd and short pounder until Ty is fully recovered. I dont get it.

It's likely because McCarthy doesn't believe that a lineup of rookie backs can dictate to the defense. Coaches don't want to give up tendencies. Montgomery gives him the best option to hide his hand because he has the best skill set (running, catching, blocking) of all the RBs rostered. He occupies defenders and ensures open space so the other skill players can thrive. The offense is already handicapped by the backup QB and without Montgomery, it will perform much worse.

In all honesty I've given up on this season for the packers and my main fantasy football team has Wentz, so I'm a converted Eagles fan for the season

That being said, I still watch all the games with the anger of a hungry Andy Reid. Some things I've noticed:

Aaron Jones is pretty good, not the best but he can be solid once the passing game gets going and defences start respecting it. McCarthy had a thing of calling Montgomery the starter and I think he should be for at least the next game to give experience and a familiar face in the screen game for Hundley, they were (assumedly) practicing a lot with each other a couple of seasons ago when they were both backups. Aaron still needs around 15 carries a game, but lets not overdo him this year.

Blake Martinez and a healthy Clay Matthews have been game changers on the defence and once we get Brooks and Perry back we could have a good set of LBs, although we kind of need that Ingram type of DE to pair with Kenny and Daniels, hopefully that's a first round concern for Thompson this year.

Finally, this WR group and TE group needs to step up, they've had an easy run with Arod at QB where they could run around for 5 minutes then turn around and catch the ball, but this isn't going to work now, they have to get early separation, make Odell catches and carry this offence. Lance Kendricks needs to be put in more than Bennett, he's a much much better receiver and I've seen him way more open than Bennett ever is.

You can play 4 Odell Beckhams with Brett Hundley and your offense will still stink. The flaws he had when he was drafted are still present. He has little to no pocket presence and he holds onto the ball too long. His passes are inaccurate because of inconsistent footwork. Physical ability has always been a plus for him, but the technical aspects of quarterbacking should be further along at this point.

nice roundup Luko,
i'm with you and we know what Ty can do for the offense ... when he's 100% healthy. But for sure he isnt. First two games were just fine but since the Bangels in week 3 he gave constantly impression of limitation and beeing clenched in his movements. Later in week 5 (when i remember correctly) it turned out that Ty has a rib injury, but you never heard where and when he got that. As RB you have to be at 100% imo or even an unknown rookie will score you out. Think MM missed an opportunity to rotate the RBs against the Saints and giving Ty the rest that he needs.

Since rooster cut, my fantasy team is with Hill, don't wish Brees any bad but I'm excited to see him once he's back in the game. Wasn't that an entertaining pre-season football in GB? Since that, Hill was my fantasy backup for Rodgers but the understandable cut made me to throw an eye to the Saints

And Hundley, yea hmm, let's take it with MonsterT95: "You shall not pass"

Didn't Packers go 6-10 in Rodgers first season as a starter? In many ways yes Aaron had a good season back then but i still think we need to give Hundley a break after just less than two games.
