I bought a couple players after the season rollover and they are listed as retiring this season. Has this always been the case if you buy players during the preseason?

Retiring players can be sold until the 1st day of the season. This started in season 25.

And you can see, whether they retire by scouting them.
I assume you did not Scout the 2 you did buy.

This morning's mail (from GameAdmin) says "At the same time other managers will try to sell their retirees. There is no warning in the player details or scout reports."

However, I don't see why it would not be public knowledge. Players don;t normally make a secret of their intentions.

It is written in the scout report when a player is planning to retire (just not an explicit warning)

So always scout TM players over 29 in the first week of the season

Ok but that seems to conflict with the GameAdmin message. Anyway not a problem for me as I have never bought a player over 29

I know a 30 yo player currently on the TM and not planning to retire

Isn't today the last day for selling retiring players ?

they had until yesterday to put them onto the market so there could be a few more days that you could buy a player that will retire on you
