+1

That is a reason why I would be in favor of just one team promoting and relegating to/from elite league per season.

Pete has always reasoned, that he wanted many managers to have a chance to play at the Elite level. However, the jump between 1.1 and Elite is quite substantial and in some regions with 2 very strong Elite teams the season could be over on gameday 8 or 9.

I personally think that there are way more teams that are frustrated because of having no chance to compete in Elite or teams that are 3rd in their region and are cruising to boredom in 1.1 as they are way more talented than the rest of their 1.1 league, than that there are teams that really want a sniff at Elite.

I would think playing in Elite would be a more valuable goal if it is harder to get there, meaning that teams would accept losing in Elite more easily. Further, battling for third place for relegation would mean the teams would be longer alive later in the season

Counter question: Why should a team be able to refuse promotion?

Oh, this is kind of a "bullshit" discussion then. It is like "why should I play the national team"....because of honor. I won't go down this road and discuss this one any further. I am sorry. If a player doesnt like play Elite for the honor of being a member of Elite, he should just lose his CC game. End of story.

We have at least 2 regions that work fine (Admirals and Dragons). How about taking a look at what makes these 2.x leagues work, before we potentialy destroy these to.

I'm not sure Dragons could be considered a region that works fine, its top 4 teams usually aren't very competitive in Elite. The last time a Dragon team won an Elite PO game was in season 16 for example so even the best Dragon team can't really compete against other top teams. That's proof that there's an imbalance at the top of Dragon compared to the top Fire, Monarchs or Thunder teams for example.

For what it's worth I think reducing the number of regions and therefore making the competitive balance more equal would go a long way to helping this game and since Pete just said that teams could potentially change region now I have renewed hope that we will eventually move in this direction

THERE WON'T BE ANY REDUCING OF REGIONS! PERIOD!

Pete, let's do each other a favour, let's assume that you and me want the best for this game. You are the founder and you have all the right to be proud of RZA. It is a really fine game and I, as many others, love it.

It is like Orange Crush said it, the distance is too big. We have two Seadrils who make the Playoffs almost each year. Behind them there is a pool of six teams who go up and down. Most of the regular season in 1.1 is boring. My team has maybe three matches worth watching. For the other managers of my category it is often the same. In Elite my season is over after the first half of the season. In case I go up I will try my best to stay there. But chances are I just try to manage well financially to maybe one day be strong enough.

I dont doubt your thoughts, but we should not discuss it on the "why should I enter a league level", when it is all about honor...

See, it wouldnt change anything. Who deserves it to be Elite is decided by rules, not by feelings. If we change it, it would make it much harder for other teams to join Elite. This is clearly not wanted by me when I look at it from a game admins point of view. The manager and gamer in me has of course different feelings

I still reject the premise, that the reason for our low numbers are due to the numbers of regions/leagues. This is not a logic game for beginners. its hard to figure out for yourself, how things work. This should never be a "i started yesterday, i can win the whole thing today" game. But over the course of my time here (this club and the previous), ive seen great strides in helping newcomers get competitive. Pete could make the turtorial very standard(do this and you win), but it wouldnt be in the spirit of the game IMHO. And i dont see how less regions, leagues or league switching changes that. If you want to build you region, help those who enters by giving them advice, warnings about league 1 and 2 difficulties, etc.

Yeah sorry about the delete

But the way I understand the "problem" is that people find ithard to make the transistion in to the elite and stay there because 16 teams drop. So if only 8 teams drop it wont be that hard and less frustrating.

Of course i also understand your arguments.

And for me... I dont care yet. Just finished my first full season so it will be ages before I might possibly come anywhere near the elite
