Nice balanced game from the Lions against the Gi-aints with tough defense added in. Some love from the broadcast booth for the Lions as well, that's quite unusual. Normally they trot out the same old stuff about lack of SB appearances, lack of playoff wins, lack of running game, lack of defense ... but at least the Lions made the playoffs 3 years out of 4 which is a lot more than some can say. Will probably come unstuck against the Falcons next but assuming Taylor Decker comes back healthy around the mid point of the season, they have a decent shot at the playoffs again.
Although this might look like a rant against pundits knocking the Lions it's really not, but after the win against the Cardinals the Lions were ranked worse than a number of teams who lost. Beating the Cards at home was not a banker and few would have predicted the win at the Giants on MNF. All of which will probably see the Lions drop further in the rankings ...

End of non-rant.

Gee, the Giants offensive line sucks and Eli Manning is nervy in the pocket and can't manage the play-clock. It's like...2016 never went away. And now we can't tackle on special teams. Yay!

Offseason narrative was we needed to fix all these things, and we didn't. Well you reap what you sow.

Though 2 games, the Rams offense is much improved over last season while the Cardinals are worse. So far the difference in offensive performance is slight with the Rams having the advantage, but if both teams remain close in production, they may also continue to remain close in season record as well.

I can't agree more to the fact that the Rams look better. It seems that Goff can throw the ball when he has targets. Cooper Kupp feels like a nice possession receiver. Everett seems to be developing in a nice receiving TE. Watkins, though injury prone, is a speedster with good hands. No one misses the combination of Kenny Britt and Tavon Austin. But come on, when you have been now working for years with one of the best offensive minds on the sidelines, you ought to do better than a first pick who looked last year like a bust and has a kid as a head coach, and a summer to discover his new teammates. Otherwise the season is going to be long, and the team is bound to turn on you, especially when they know you're the issue...

Between now and Thanksgiving (David Johnson's injury timetable has him returning as early as Thanksgiving and as late as Christmas) they face 4 teams that should have winning records at the end of the year, the Cowboys, Buccaneers, Seahawks, and Texans. The Eagles might be on that winning side, but I'm not sure about them ATM. If Johnson remains out until Christmas, the Redskins might be a team to add to the list of "winning" teams they'll face without DJ. I think that makes for a very slim margin for error and your comment about the season being long is apropos.

Does anyone know what's going on with Arizona on the topic of terrible offenses? I mean lions have some tough defenders, but come on, since when do the colts have a pass rush, let alone a pass defense??? I know missing David Johnson is a tough blow, but but Carson Palmer plays like an old Andy Dalton and they can't get anything going on the ground against one of the worst defenses on the league. Has the window already closed for the cards?

Colts offseason was focused on the Defense. Please remember Ryan Grigson is gone. Lot of rookies in thé secondary but D-Line is league average at thé very worst.
