I seriously have no idea what is going on with my team, I've been a top 10 ELO team for 5 or 6 consecutive seasons and this season my team can't move the ball on offense and can't get turnovers on defense.

Here are the things that changed since last season when everything was still going smoothly:

Player retiring: an OL and a LB, both replaced by similar players.
Coaching change: new OL coach slightly worse than the one he replaced.

One thing that appears to be making a giant different are my interceptions, on both offense and defense.

With almost exactly the same players and coaches:

On offense in 16 Elite games last season I through 6 INT - 686 pass attempts, average 1 INT every 114 passes.
This season in 10 Elite games (8 in Elite + 2 in SC) I've thrown 15 INT - 436 pass attempts, average 1 INT every 29 passes.

In defense my 2 MLB and 3 CB combined for the following stats:
S28: 32 INT in 16 games - 2.0 INT per game
S29: 3 INT in 10 games - 0.3 INT per game

So I throw ~4 times more interceptions on offense and catch ~7 fewer interceptions on defense which obviously leads to a lot of terrible losses.

Any help welcome because watching my ~80 rated team play like this is just infuriating

I have noticed a slight change in the interception rate and have put it down to the following

Thanks, I knew about the change but I don't understand what my team is doing for the change to affect it so drastically on both sides of the ball. I'm especially confused by my defensive guys not getting more interceptions now than before the change, especially given that I'm training most of them on catching so I see no reason for them to go from 2 interceptions per game to 0.3 only!

Tough to say mate, as I need to give you some of your own medicine

An interception is very rare so not enough plays for a conclusion, could be just really bad luck for your defense.

Generally, I have the felling, that interception % is up this year, which imo is a good thing, as it was really low the last seasons, especially for highly skilled QBs.

You had some very good opponents so that may have played a big role, too

Interceptions being up could explain my QB throwing more picks, although the increase for him is quite drastic as his INT % has been multiplied by 4!

But if interceptions are up then the performance (or lack thereof) of my defense is even more astonishing.

You're throwing a lot out of SG, it seems that is one thing being adressed by the new engine.
On the D-side I'm also a bit disapointed by my team, so I just can guess it's about Vision and Positioning.

Thanks for the suggestion. I understand that I use the SG formations on a lot of my plays but if the change made INT more likely from SG formations I should see the same trend on D and my team should also make more interceptions when my opponent is lining up from the SG.

In 10 Elite games this season:

My team:
Pass from SG formations: 319
INT from SG formations: 15
Average: 1 INT every 21 passes!

My opponents:
Pass from SG formations: 255
INT from SG formations: 2
Average: 1 INT every 128 passes!

So over a fairly similar number of plays from SG formations my O is clearly throwing way more interceptions than my D is getting.

Unless there is anything glaringly wrong with your team/build/playbooks which iwill assume will not be the case for you it is Likely just a function of the random elements in the calculation.
Iassume with time it will right itself maybe your time will be come the business end of the season.

Just so you know: you should run a few games using the friendly engine as well. There are some major changes in the balancing of plays, formations and player vs player calculations of situations on the field. Might be this could help bringing light into your performance drop.

The current league engine is not affected by this. As said elsewhere, the teams are pushing their rosters higher and higher. So the calculation gap narrows, and of course this could lead to a "performance drop over night". The human imagination adds to this feeling..."why me?"
