Dude you got serious problems losing like that with a 9m roster. Having said that, I haven't scouted your team ever so I don't know what the problem is but I would be willing to help. Are you playing the same PB over and over or are you using different PBs?

If you use the same PB every game, you will have problems. You must have at least 3 or 4 PB that you rotate.

Another matter is scouting. I find that some Elite teams are very lazy with their PB so if you scout them you can find some tendencies to take advantage of. Did you scout Bears?

I currently have 4 playbooks which I rotate and tweak for every game.

Without exception I scout the opposition to try and find a match-up where I can a l t e r my depth to find a mis-match on their defence, and match my defence to their strengths.

And without fail I always scout the oppositions matches and spend as much time as real life allows to try and work out their offensive playbook.

I am really hoping that I am missing another primary task here, because otherwise although I could carry on into season 33 before hitting financial troubles (or rebuild for fun), I'm starting to become a little disillusioned..... and embarrassed!

First advice would be to scrap the 5-2 from your Defense

It hurt you big against the Bears:
Shotgun 2 WR vs 5-2
rushing
4 / 4 / 1
passing
10 / 166 / 16.6

5-2 is even dangerous against outside runs, once your DL is blocked, the CBs are the next would be Tacklers as there are no OLBs.
but it really killed you against the pass.

The Bears are notorious for their pass rush, so I don't like your run/pass ratio as you played into their strength.

generally, don't be too hard on yourself. the Styrean Bears are one of the best teams in business and yard - wise you were ok and so much random things can happen in a single game

What Shanny said,

Also, is it possible that you changed your playbook in your last 2 official games to very pass heavy? or is it just something like when behind by... pass? If I see stats like that in every game, my defense is basically blitz his ass all day and ignore the few runs completely.

The last few seasons I scored a lot of long TD's and a lot of those are generated from running the ball enough. quite a few players set their defenses up for a beating by posting something like pass 3-3-5 coupled with a 5-3-3 run(or 3-4-4/4-4-3), even in such situations as 3rd and very long. This means that once the defense starts anticipacting a run you can do a lot of damage with a pass and vice-versa. This is where I think RZA mimics real life pretty well, as long as you keep your opponent guessing you'll get better results.

Yep the Supercup match was Pass Heavy and it very embarrassingly looks like I walked straight into an ambush thanks to all the kind advice and tips passed on in this thread.
The previous match though was delilberately a balanced attack (partly but not wholly to try and bluff the Bears). But I got stuffed, and my catch-up was all Pass and got creamed too.
So I played a couple of scrimmages/depths with the offending Playbook and the one to be used against the Bears to try and learn and then did some final tweaks.
Oh well, struggling again today - perhaps I just better face it, I'm a pants Gameplanner
BUT THANK YOU everyone for all the help.

Shanny is right about the 52 defense. Also, I noticed on offense there were a few formations that you ONLY passed from (I-form, for example). I'm concerned you might be getting LST penalty by only passing from certain formations, so that it gets harder to complete those passes and also interceptions are more likely.

I hadn't noticed in my despairing post-mortem the 11 passes and 0 rushes from the 'I' form - I will seek that out. Sadly though, it is an indication of my bad game planning - it wouldn't be my intention to ever solely Run or Pass out of any one formation

I can't thank you guys enough for your help, I really, REALLY appreciate it - THANK YOU.
