Punch Drunk has solved the engine "issues", why none is needed at all!!!
Simply whoever has the highest rated team wins... Anyway, best of luck for the rest of the season. punch drunk wrote:

Why is there so much fuss about the "twisted engine gave away a game"? If I were insulted by this, I would have answered "If you feel better: the twisted engine gave me a win for free, but no-one cares in the books"...

Dear bubbles,
You didn't win because of an awesome team build or an amazing playbook. You won with freakish turnovers for points by a manipulated RNG. You go buddy! You rock! Have pride in a job well done! It's been fun! |

Yep - Seems right. FYI: pete and the rest of us would appreciate it if you would stay on topic and not make any more pathetic attempts of personal attacks. |

I would've thought that it might have brightened up someone's boring day. Since Pete and the rest of you oppose to off-topic statements like these I'll refrain from making them in the future, but I would like to clarify why I've made a few of them as of late. I thought this thread basically ended already, since Pete answered every question (some several times) very clearly and some of the posters chose to ignore everything he said to keep discussing single games that were lost. My personal opinion based on what I've seen from the engine so far is: Skills still matter roughly the same, if you look at the outcomes of matches you'll still see people winning with the better team almost every time, in games where coaches and strategies are what I consider quite equally matched. You'll even see a lot of wins when coaches and or strategy are, once again imo, far below the level of their lower rated opponents. On the other hand, I have to admit that I am biased as I was also in the camp that was asking for a change in the engine that would make playcalling more deciding opposed to the other factors. I'm not sure about how the balance has been changed but I feel encouraged. A main reason I wanted this was that one of our most important SD teams and a very active and pleasant manager on the forums (the Red star Goats) were actually quitting, among other things, because they felt even with a strong team and a good playbook, a slight edge in their opponents' player skills still caused them to lose to teams that used an extremely single-minded playbook, oop coaching, etc etc. Something I think Pete will have also found from what some players that left have told him. And lastly I've asked on a lot of these threads to actually present factual data from a big enough sample size to prove a point. Something I actually and very actively do. I may interpret some figures differently than some other managers, and I know many of you don't always agree with me, but I have a pretty good idea about how the game engine actually works. And it irritates me to see people making these nonsense claims over and over again, absolutely ignoring whatever the man that actually built the engine says, making sure that some less vocal people with actual claims often don't get heard and I believe this often causes Pete to question the worth of his efforts'. Something he should never do! So I felt after you insisted on the off-topic mocking of krugodam's well-deserved victory, there was no harm in doing the same. I guess I was wrong there. Now I can only hope you contribute further to this discussion or you can keep bashing a good team that beat you after a good showing. Whichever way you decide I won't bother to comment any further on these matters. |

this is totally subjective and my personal opinion of course, but I am worried too that the reduced impact of player talent might be a bit overdone This is the point: there is no such change, therefore we did not change the value of your players or coaches or your management. oh alright, thx pete! |
