Seller's Transfer Market dead? Prices I think are way down and a lot of players that would have sold earlier aren't selling.

Has there been that much skill inflation from free agents?

Are fewer teams meaning less active market?

Never seen it this bad to sell players....

The market is dead because there are lot players available and less managers playing far enough to make a splash into the market.
My take on that.
I did sell some of my players starting the season and I was lucky to get the minimum price, except 1 OL.
Then I sold another OL a bit later and got only minimum.

Face it Tiger, you just hit the bottom.

Am I wrong if I say draft player are better now than they used to before ?
Almost every draft has a 50/50 player, and several other with nice physicals.

Developping player is also easier thanks to the Premium YA.

Being able to better develop players - - > reduced needs on the TM

I also think the seller's market is kinda dead right now.

I dont see a coherence between overall draft quality and Transfermarket (TM).

But what actually is the discussion? You want to get rid of a certain player but not willing to use the "Fire" Button? You want the big bucks in return and fail, right?

Tell you what: It has always been a bad idea to sell fridges to Eskimos. At the moment RZA World is a deep frozen tundra in that regard.

The rosters across the RZA world are big (# of seats = 70) and loaded. Teams can rely on up to 15 roster spots to develop youngsters before they replace a retiree. That lowers the need of using the TM.

The TM itself is flooded with "Free Agents" day in day out.

But is that all a problem? Honestly, I dont know.

However, maybe it is still worth to discuss some ideas that could affect the Transfermarket as well as other parts of the game. Here are a few:

[A] Restrict Free Agent's time of being part of the TM to off-season only. During regular season Free Agents are not allowed on TM. ("Off-Season" here is meant as: e.g. from beginning playoffs until last friday before a new season starts).

[B] A reduced roster size from 70 to (e.g.) 60.

[C] Allow sudden drops in a players development/progress. How come that we all hold 30+ year old running backs in our teams? (just a side note: An avereage carrer of an NFL player is 3.3 years (source: statista.com)).

Add more ideas if you like and have fun

Good evening

A.) Now. The teams you would screw are newbee teams searching for stronger material. Killing the FAs throughout the season makes it harder for them.

B.) We are discussing ideas to create more need of depth on everybodies roster right now

C.) Everybody as he/she likes

good points

reg A.) The average Joe that veteran teams throw on the market are first class players in every newbee's team.

The majority of the players I bought in my rooki season (S26) came from other teams. Some of them are still on my roster and are doing fine. But thats just a subjective experience.

Looking back to my rooki season and imagine that there would have been a FA market for just a certain time period, i would have been fine with it because it would have been the same for everyone. No skewness here in my eyes.

reg B.) You probably refer to the "in-game out for the game injuries" idea. Sounds interesting, keep it up!

Just to clarify to having us on the same page (but correct me if im wrong): "Depth" is more likely a synonym for having higher quality with second and third stringer than a big roster. So, that trying to create the "need for depth" doesnt counter against a reduced roster, right?

At the moment my roster is loaded with 67 players. Majority of them sits, waits and develops. Im not in a need or hurry to make use of the TM.

The size of an active NFL roster (i know you all hate the NFL comparison, but anyway) is 53 + 10 practice squad. RZA is at 55 + 15. Here we are all soft bedded

Reg C.) I like an good old Whisky.

But also I would rather deal with players that reach their peak in a certain time period and from there: either drop abilities (or stop development), stay at a level (slowed down development) or continue to rise to real superstars and HOFers (speeded up development), than holding all players on the same develop-line.

That would be crispy from a roster management point of view.

How to program (a noob suggestion): Add 2 columns to the players database

[PeakInDays], a weighted randomly assigned integer number that reflects to a specific time point of a players career between his 1st and 5th season (for instance) where he reaches his peak of normal development. On that day the second column (s. below) will be evaluated if he continues to rise, slows or stops to develop.

[Brad yOrShady] with 4 characteristics, also weighted randomly assigned:
1 - Stopped development
2 - Slowed down development
3 - Continued normal development
4 - Speeded up development

The largest impact on the market is the accelerated EXPERIENCE and training.

When you have 21 yo's with 4 Exp who wants a 29 yo..

Give it 2 or 3 seasons. At that point we will see full experienced players on the market
