It seems that it will not be open to them in France before next year.

The first studies and results in countries like Israel seem very good, but the sampling is still quite small. I believe France will wait to see how it goes in the US first. Our leaders did not shine for their political bravery during this sanitary crisis, I do not see it changing with the elections coming.

Same in Germany. 12+ is allowed, for less so far not.
But when our administration will make a decision on that is not known.

COVID-19 cases going right now through the roof, thanks to the not-vaccinated people, but also the older people with 6+ month since the last shot.

And now the carneval started! Yeah!

In my area (Saxony), we have the highest counts in Germany. And, we broke through all past records now. At the same time we argue if christmas markets should be opened. I do not know what has to happen to learn how to drive a society through a pandemic, but it did not happen yet.

So yesterday I got my booster shot - - they are recommending it for everyone who was vaccinated more than 6 months ago.

Cases are fairly low in the states overall - - although some states are experiencing some increases. They are concerned that the winter will give rise to another wave - - especially in the colder states.

Also, this last few days, the media has been going 24/7 on the omicron variant. Nobody really knows much about it - - but the media is now announcing every cases as they detect it, first San Francisco, then New York, now Los Angeles. A little surreal.

Hope everything is going well where you guys are.

In Germany the numbers are going through the roof (right now it seems we hit a platau, but the number of tests are increasing and the laboratories can't proceed them on time, so the real numbers are not known) and the goverments did agree on several increases of checks and restrictions. Basically more or less a lockdown for un-vaccinated.

Omicron is also in the news, we have a case of a person with no traveling history, so the virus is already circling. The severity of the variation is unknown as far as I know. I heard in South Africa only mild cases, but not sure.

Overall I just don't understand the stupidity of most people.
Why the goverment does only react not act. All developments were at least foreseen with high potential to happen and still all did wait to have it happen and THEN only the reaction.
Why many people do invest money and effort in getting false vaccination proof, while it was for several month much easier to get a shot, for free. Sure some have doubts regarding side effects, but now it should be clear that the risk for those is much less severe than the risk for covid itself or the mumbo-jumbo-tin-foil-medicine take instead.
Why people do say it's ok to reduce contacts and then visit a football match with 50.000+ people. It seems the pandemic is other peoples problems. Like the people supporting public transport with the argument then they would have miore space in the street.

Did you guys see that 3 of the Tampa Bay Bucs players (include Antonio Brown) were busted for having false vaccination cards. I think they got 3 game suspensions.

Saw that and I think all those players doing false plays were treated too mild.

So my 11 yo son got his 2nd shot on Thursday - - so we're completely vaccinated now. However, it seems like omicron is stilling hitting a lot of vaxed people. I know several triple vaxed adults that have gotten it - - although their symptoms are mild.

It seems like the US is a few weeks behind the European wave, cases here are still climbing. Have things peaked in Europe yet?

Also, there was a Supreme Court case this week where they took up President Biden vaccine mandate on private employers. Not sure when they will have a decision.

Hope everyone is doing well,

I do not get the whole discussion about "vaccinated, still got the covid". It was made very clear that vaccins primary task was to cause milder infections. It was not so much about getting not infected. It is just a bonus that vaccinated people do not spread infections so much, and can go away without infection more easily.

I am happy for you, Steve. Good luck with staying negative.

And no, Europe is not over it, it seems. Situations get worse an worse in countries like UK, Spain, France. Germany seems to be a few weeks behind those countries, and the current numbers here are not promising.
