I want to bring back this theme for discussion. Many ideas were brought in the past about exchanging picks and similar things. My idea is a bit different this time...

What if we could just sell our picks? The restrictions would be:

1. A team can only sell one pick.
2. A team can only buy one pick.
3. The pick transfer must be inside the same region and level.
4. The draft pick market will open after the end of the season.

Reasons for this implementation:

1. Buying a pick may be more attractive than buying a player (considering the actual status of TM)
2. Change a little bit the dynamics of the draft

So, what do you think people? Discuss and rate this idea pls.

I'd say that it should be more like real life. You can trade draft picks with players anywhere but not with bot teams(obviously)

This will never ever happen. We have some (very few) managers prone to cheating, and trading picks is one of the easiest ways to cheat.

Hmmm.

So the market opens basically after rollover, since before that all markets are closed.
That means the market is more or less open on remaining Sunday (usually rollover day) Monday and Tuesday until don't-know, to secure a valid transfer of picks to new owners.
Quite short I guess.

Also a problem, you should only be able to bid and buy on the draft board inside your region and league of last season, so the list you pick from at the draft.
That shrinks the market dramatically and I'm not sure you can actually have a big market for that.

You cannot pay to win in this game - this is one of the basic rules. Even a supporter account does not create any benefits that make you win a game. Hence we do not allow direct transfers of picks for money.

Some GM's, well, at least one I'm familiar with, does magic. It's this guy InglisDrever. I think his team is kind of poopy, but he keeps winning, and right now is first in my division. Poof!! MAGIC!!

If you trade picks for money or other picks, it's always easy for some managers with good communication skills to fool unexpierenced managers into a bad deal.
Accumulate that per season and multiple times and you get a benefit which does not help the game.

On top it's also possible to create several accounts and then transfer picks to your main account, in that scenario.

A pick market would at least secure that several managers can bit on a pick and you get maybe some competition.
But as said, I think the market is too small.

Probably playing devil’s advocate here, I know, but as I have said before I would support a trade system being established. As this is quite prone to cheating, like the examples Jack6 gave, you would need to monitor that. A very solid way to do that would be to have a fair play committee that monitors and has the power to revert trades. I would be happy to serve on that, and I’m sure we could find 6-7 other managers who would be willing to do the same in order to get a trade system established.
