Hello!

I'm new to American football in general, as well as RZA so I'm a bit unsure how to deal with the fact that my QB1 has been throwing picks for fun recently. It's been a bit of an issue all season, but has really come to the fore in the playoff games. (He's 51/38 in all games, 6/12 in the playoffs).

Some details: he's (I think) a good QB for my level (Admirals 2) with 30+ in passing, vision, 45 int and 4* experience, my receivers are ok as well although a lot of them are originals so room to improve.

I've tried a few small tweaks so far, by trying to change my rush/pass balance in the game settings, and getting rid of plays in the playbook that were producing them the most. I made a note of every pick from the last 7 games or so and found most were thrown of 1st down in either Singleback Spread or Shotgun 4 WR, so tried to move away from them.

This helped a little but, as mentioned, we've still thrown 12 picks in just 3 playoff games, with 6 in the relegation round. We've outgained most teams we've played, we just lose the turnover battle baaadly.

So: is this issue a matter of my QB, my WRs and TEs, my rush/pass balance, my playbook rules or a combo of them all? I know I probably do pass too often (see my WR1 leading the entire site in post-season yards) but this generally how I want my offence to be, and a lot of teams we've played have a similar setup but give up far fewer turnovers.

Do I need 4*+ players at QB and receiver to play this kind of offence? Do I need to overhaul my playbook? Do I just need to trial and error my team to success? I'm not sure.

Suggestions are very much welcome!

Sohn Sip the QB I scouted seems like the QB in question. First, you play in a tough region.

In my opinion, he could use more strength and way more speed. INT is solid for a QB, although 45+ is what I look for in a franchise-caliber QB. He is not a finished product by far when it comes to his passing and vision but as a D2 QB, I've had worse but not with so many picks.

I also train position, carrying, and footwork all about 5-7 points behind passing and vision. That's just my thing. No proof it makes a difference.

Check your playbook for DEEP PASS plays. You QB as of now is not made for those types of passes against good defenders.

It took a while for me to find my franchise QB, it was the last position I worried about as I needed that guy to be IT.

For me I would be patient a find a young Qb( mines was a 19yo free agent at the time with a strong arm trait):
Strenth 47 - 50
Speed 45-50
INT 45-50
TW 35+
EXP: 3stars
TAL: 3.5 or better

I happily paid 35 million for mine.

Its your playbook that is the problem. The first and 5th picks were at 15 yards(Read the play description). That means your QB was throwing a medium pass. Picks 4and 6 were for 25 yards. That means your playbook was for a long pass. You must get rid of all Medium passes and Long passes in your playbook. Simply always use "Pass" Your QB will mostly attempt the right length pass. Even if its 3rd and 27. Use "pass" your QB will attempt to try and pass for a first down. Someday the other pass plays might be viable, but for right now, your asking for picks if you use them.
If your confused about this please ask again or PM me.

Thank you both for taking the time to trawl through my games and players to help! Means a lot.

Yes, from what you're saying my thinking would be keep him in place while searching for that next level QB... He's 25 so still got room to improve, and works for the level I'm at, but obviously doesn't have a high enough ceiling. I think I have the coaching in place to do so.

Ok I think I might get rid of all deep pass plays... I think I put them in thinking it might be worth taking a deep shot on 2nd and short, but clearly I don't have the QB for it. One day haha.
