Couple of things...Wow...what a game. Kevin...you could have beat me this week as our game was back and forth. We both had a possession in OT that we could not do anything with. Glad I changed my FG rule in OT, as this was the first time I was able to use it in a meaningful game! Our next game will be just as close, and possibly a different outcome if the cards fall right.

Next, I hope this season does not follow Kevin's 3 point or less losses like he had last year. If he wins half of those games, he could be in the Championship game!

Last, Dumplings....keep up the great write-ups. I love the reviews of the games. What I really enjoy is keeping track of who is in the running for the playoffs. Back in the 80's, I used to keep track of "magic numbers" for all of the sports leagues in the USA for fun. I would start out the season saying "The Indianapolis Colts Magic number is....." but I have since let the leagues do that for us on their own website. So I will continue to keep track of playoff possibilities as we get about midway through the season here.

Hope you don't mind but I thought I might write up a very quick review of the results of each week.

Week 1
In my opinion no upsets this week as all the teams fancied for the playoffs started with a win.
And only 2 close games which were:
The Pinoys beating the soon to go bot Athletics 24:23 - A great start for the Pinoys which should put them on track to do better than their 6-10 record of last season
RC Frogs hang on 16-10 to beat Inbhir Narann - Going into the 4th Quarter it was 10-0 in a low scoring game but then the game exploded into life with a further 4 scores but Narann left it to late for a comeback

Big game match up of week 2 - Attack Dogs @ Mantis - The NC South front runners battle off for early season bragging rights

No, we don't mind at all you doing this. I no longer have the time, and I'm sure Tpal70 will help as well.

Great read

I can tell you now I am not ready to beat Mantis, let alone climb out of the basement of our tough division.

Yes, that will be a huge game. The RC Frogs should be for real this year. They have been building quite well for the past few years!

Week 2
The week in which the season bursts into life

My big game prediction last week was Attack Dogs v Mantis and boy what a doozy we had.
The game had it all - Sacks, Interceptions, a tying TD with 28 seconds left and then OT with a FG winning it after both sides had punted away possession. Great result Mantis

Want a last minute win then look no further than RC Frogs at home to Wolflings clinching the game with 50 seconds left. I thought that the Wolflings were favourites so was it the home field advantage or are the Frogs the real deal this year? We'll find out next week.

Want a great 2nd half comeback then go watch the Willemstad Bridges. Down 19:3 at home to Inbhir Narann the coach must have given the team talk of his life as the Bridges turn it around to win by 5

Big game match up of week 3 is Dumplings @ Frogs in the NC North

Great game. My running attack is usually strong but me dealing my top 2 OL for younger guys might set me back a little.. Not a lot...but a little. Either way, you shut the run down completely and dominated the run yourself on offense.

And yes, after this OT loss I'm thinking...here we go again. Team COMPETES but doesn't COMPLETE

I just could not stop Duluth Eskimos in the 4th quarter today. If I would have stopped him on that 1st drive, it could have been a different game, but just was not in the cards!

Dumplings Weekly Review

Week 3

And I begin with a special message to all those that lost today - remember there are still another 13 games left and fate still has many cards to play.......

Last week I called this weeks big game match up as Dumplings @ Frogs in the NC North. Well after the Frogs raced ahead to a 20-0 lead with interceptions, fumble recoveries and punt returns going for a TD I feared for my team. However a season in Elite has taught my team much resilience and they roared back to life to win 45-23

Closest game of the week was Comanches at Moustache Man where those hairy ones triumphed 31 to 28. I imagine the Colonel needs new underpants though as at one point they lead 31 to 7 and had to watch as the lead was whittled away and with 11 seconds left on the clock the Comanches went for a winning pass on the opp 39 which was completed well short. Would a 56 yd FG attempt for a tie been the better option? Maybe that's a discussion topic re playbook options.

My upset of the week (and please choose to disagree) is the Eskimos winning at Mantis 27:20. The Eskimos played a mistake free (no ints or fumbles) balanced game (38 attempts for 242yds passing and 36 attempts for 158 yds rushing). Going 12 of 16 on 3rd down conversions is also great going so well done The Eskimos on a very good win.

So 8 teams left unbeaten and 2 of those play in week 4. So sorry for picking myself again but the BIG GAME match up for Week 4 is Dumplings @ Alligators

Thanks for the recap and preview.

Big game indeed next week as I think Cheeshead is itching for a return to the Elite!

Great write up. Spot on! That game tomorrow will be of great importance for sure!

Another game to watch out for is Inbhir Narann vs. Kokomo Mantis. After Mantis's loss, their morale is in the tank. This could be a chance for Narann to just stomp all over the Mantis. Good luck Narann!
