On 'paper' it looked like it was going to be a close game and I'm glad it turned out that way. These type of games are much more enjoyable.

Result could have gone either way.

Wildcard Playoff games

Burnaby Bruisers vs Midnight Marauders

This looks like the toughest game of the playoffs as the Bruisers visit the Marauders and it will be hard to call a winner. The Marauders have won the last 2 meetings, the Bruisers won the 3 games before that. On paper the Bruisers should win this, but I think the Marauders know how to win against tough opponents and will win this game.

Marauders to win

DA Raiders vs Poznan Knights

Both teams finished 12-4, but the Raiders are unlucky to be in the Bradford Bulls division and finished in 2nd spot. The Knights have a good passing game, but I think the Raiders run game will win this for them as they control the clock.

Raiders to win

MK Saints vs Torchwood Aliens

The Aliens won the last time the teams met and look favorites to win this game too. I think the Saints lack of a rush game could hamper them as the will have to go to the air for the win. The Aliens have struggled in the playoffs, maybe this will be the season they progress to the next round.

Aliens to win

Osler Rotties vs Berinsfield Hornets

The Hornets won the league game earlier in the season and they will win this game too. This has been a great season for the Rotties, but now the season gets serious and it doesn't get any tougher for them. They have met in 4 friendlies and the Hornets won them all.

Hornets to win

End of regular season awards. Playoffs not included.

QB - Shane Falco Trophy

1 - Johnny Blackwell - Bradford Bulls - 6,883 passing yards

Over 2,000 yards to the 2nd place QB sees Blackwell claim the prestigious trophy and a possible return to the elite league. He is Monarchs league golden boy and rightly so, he is a demi-god in a league of legends.

WR -Jack Dundee Shield

1 - Konrad Schmid - Bradford Bulls - 2,168 catching yards

The top 3 receivers are all from the Bradford Bulls aerial bombardment of the opposition. Schmid got over 2,000 yards with an outstanding display as the main target for Blackwells missiles.

RB - Darnell Jefferson Trophy

1 - Abedi Mulisa - DA Raiders - 4,711 rushing yards

Mulisa had nearly 3,000 more yards than the next RB as he bulldozed over the defenses of the opposition. The juke master proved to be unstoppable in a great season for the Raiders

FB - Becky "Icebox" O'Shea Trophy

1 - Brandon Gaines - Paxtang Black Panthers - 1,226 rush yards, 43 broken tackles

Gaines is the short yard specialist for the Black Panthers as they plan a trip to the elite league. He had a job to do and Brandon earned his pay this season.

TE - Hingle McCringleberry Trophy

1 - Bradford Linn - Bradford Bulls - 1,734 catching yards 15 TD's

The player who's parents named him after the Bulls was the best tight end in the unsung position. He is a crucial cog in the Bulls offense.

OL - Gordon Ramsey Trophy

1 - Torchwood Aliens - 3,058 pancakes

The Aliens offensive line served up a plate load of pancakes this season. They were all seen heading to a "all you can eat" buffet in downtown Torchwood.

DL - Steve Lattimer Shield

1 - Ollie Lamb - Bradford Bulls - 119 tackles 47 tackles for loss

He maybe called a lamb, but Ollie put the smackdown on offenses all season. An excellent ability to get behind the offensive line has given him the award.

LB - Bobby Boucher Trophy

1 - Krystain Reyes - Letaidans - 30 sacks

Reyes gets the sack trophy as he caused chaos all season. The blitz master proved a real problem for teams trying to keep him off the quarterback. He is known as a terror inducing linebacker who gives quarterbacks nightmares.

CB - Nate Ruffin Trophy

1 - Miles Beach - DA Raiders - 149 tackles, 7 interceptions

The cornerback with a sixth sense of where the ball will be, and Beach was the outstanding winner this season. He can tackle like a demon and has the touch of an angel.

SF - Brian Chavez Trophy

1 - Luther Locklear - birneys weekenders - 121 tackles

Locklear is the best cover guy in the league and will be a cornerstone player for the weekenders to build on. Luther is the last line of defense and makes sure none shall pass.

K- Nigel Gruff golden shoe

1 - Sonny Ashford - Paxtang Black Panthers - 42 field goals

Sonny has the leg to maybe get the Black Panthers to the promised land. The Black Panthers have a awesome weapon in Ashford.

Coach - Tony D'Amato Trophy

1 - da1977 - Letaidans - 15-1

They were in Monarchs 2 in season 38 and now they have a 15-1 season and a possible trip to the elite league. I think this is an impressive rise of one of the new managers in the league.

This is for fun and so please take is a such.

I demand a recount! Pero Quint is every bit the DL that...that other guy is! He has as many TFL as...that guy! He has as many tackles as...(checks season stats)...hmm...never mind.

No one on my team benefits more from the fact that the offense can't finish drives than one Sonny Ashford.

There were 3 DL'd with 47 TFL's, so had to go by tackles, Lamb had 119, Quint had 101 and Ruiz of the Knights had 91. So the Lamb gets the trophy. (and he paid for the drinks at the bar )

Next round:
Peoples Republic of Yorkshire vs DA Raiders
Penisula Pirates vs MK Saints
Home Malones vs Rome Centurions
Berinsfield Hornets vs Social Distance Runners
Bradford Bulls vs SP Nightstorms
Torchwood Aliens vs Tovari

Salt City Pirates vs Kalapana Wild Thangs
Baltimore Ravens vs Space Kraken
Olympic Wildcats vs Leverkusen Leopards
Poznan Knights vs Black Dragons

Of 11 teams in 2. round, with 1 match between 2 Monarchs teams, 5 did made it into 3. round.
Not bad from my point of view.
I think we had season when in 3rd round Monarchs region was done.

The 3. round has:
Torchwood Aliens vs Willemstad Bridges
Home Malones vs Bracciano Lakers

Novosibirsk Lions vs Leverkusen Leopards
Lyon Eagles vs Black Dragons
Salt City Pirates vs San Diego Blitz

Some very tough matchups, likely my matchup the easiest, with the Pirates having the hardest one.
