I guess my team did show up today! Took them a bit to finally wake up, but by the end of the game, they were rolling along!

As we started the 4th Quarter, Wild Thangs were down 3 points. On the first play of the 4th, Wild Thangs scored a TD to go up 4 points. Mantis then matched that TD on their first 2 drives of the 4th quarter to go up 10 points and end the scoring. Wild Thangs did get down to the goal line but threw an INT in the end zone with 2:45 to go in the game. Mantis ran the ball back 50 yards to mid field and ran the clock out.

Dumplings big match reviews of 12th September:

Moustache Men 31:33 Xu Da - I knew this would be a cracker and it certainly didn't disappoint. The game had a 4th down TD, 52yd FG, Interceptions, Fumble Recoveries but interestingly no sacks. The Moustache Men jumped out to a 14:3 lead in Q1 but were reeled in by Xu Da who did enough to hang on (just).

Mantis 34:24 Wild Thangs - In a game where the lead changed hands 4 times the one constant was the Mantis running game which out rushed the Wild Thangs to grind out a win which at one point could have gone either way. In a game of fine margins Mantis were 6 of 12 on 3rd down attempts whilst Wild Thangs were only 3 of 10.

Still 5 unbeaten teams left and none play each other so....
Next weeks big games:
Frogs @ Pinoys - The NC East looks like being a close 3 team race, can the Pinoys get back to winning ways to stay in the hunt?
Eskimos @ Llamas - Is the AC North more than just a divisional crown for Juggernaut or can the Eskimos keep the heat on and get past the SG4 experts (the Llamas)

Great write up again, and yes, the Llamas are the SG4 experts for sure!

Dumplings big match reviews of 15th September:

SHUT. THE. FRONT. DOOR.

Crushers 17:16 Juggernaut - so what are the odds of a previously winless team beating a previously unbeaten team......That's why we love this game because on any given Sunday etc etc....Big shout out to the Crushers who despite not scoring in the 2nd half restricted Juggernaut to just 131 total passing yards

Eskimos 38:14 Llamas - The Eskimos kept their nerve and an avalanche of 21 pts in the 4th Qtr puts the heat on at the top of the AC North.

Frogs 13:45 Pinoys - 4 losses in a row now for the Frogs and the Pinoys get back to .500 and top the NC East with their QB throwing for 271 yds, 4TDs, no Ints and no Sacks

Now just 4 unbeaten teams left and 2 of them play each other:
BIG MATCH
Dumplings @ Alligators

Big matchup this week indeed with the Dumplings and Alligators.

Crushers might have cemented the upset of this season right there, it will be hard to top that one.

I am afraid I am gonna get dumped on by the Dumplings

Of course I am planning for the win. Perhaps my team will play again with their ahair on fire as they did against Deflators!

I believe last season there were more unbeaten teams this far into the season. Next week there will be at most three left. Who will be the last left standing?

I am going for Dumplings.

Dumplings big match reviews of 19th September:

Dumplings 41:10 Alligators - "I am afraid I am gonna get dumped on by the Dumplings " said the Alligators in chat a few days ago during a mystic crystal ball vision.......nuf said

Only 2 games finished within 7 points of each other and these were:

Comanches 14:16 Moustache Men - Now with their 5th win and with a view of a possible chance of the playoffs the Moustache Men just did enough in this low scoring game. Praise to the Kicker who hit 3 FGs including one from 53yds.

Deflators 24:30 Xu Da - In a battle of the leaders of the AC West and AC South the South won out. Although Deflators won the battle of the total yardage with 501 v 376 it was stand out individual performances from the Xu Da defence that helped win it. Shout out to Xu Da CB Kaderli who intercepted twice taking one back for a TD

Also first loss of the season for the Destroyers who lost to Narann 7:23. The game was noticeable for Destroyers scoring 2 safeties in the 1st Qtr. That early game promise dissipated however and Narann ran out winners.

So just 2 unbeaten teams left

BIG MATCH
Moustache Men (5-2) @ Destroyers (6-1)

Great review and preview.

Not sure why the Alligator/ Dumpling match had such a point difference. But this was the most challenging opponent for the Dumplings since week 1. Besides the next matchup between these two teams, Dumplings almost has a clear at to 16-0. Im looking forward to that rematch.

Also in addition to Dumplings big-game matchup between Moustache Man & Destroyers, the Eskimos have a chance to become serious contenders with a win in their matchup vs Juggernaut who will be playing angry after losing to the Crushers last week.

I don't know either. I am just outside the real top of Thunder 1.1. when challenged for real I lay down and take a beating.

There is structural change needed. I am trying to write a blog post about it for the RZA blog but it's tough to really spend some time on it though. It is coming however...!

I totally agree that there is a problem which causes a wide points variation between closely matched teams.
I put this down to the 'daily form' (or luck as I like to call it) being too big a factor in the performance/results of games.

Although I benefitted this time there are plenty of times that I've been on the receiving end (see last seasons conference championship loss to the Bridges and this season my Colloseum Cup Final v SD Blitz on 13th Sept where I lost heavily in a game where it was an equal power mode set up where only INT, TW, Playbook and 'daily form' are the difference)

I know that a reduction of daily form (luck) would mean less upsets but it might help players when trying to figure out where to improve (playbook v players etc)
