I was thinking about how the get some reward to those people entertaining the community. Examples can be found across the forums. Some write great reviews, other add excellent thoughts to discussions.
How can we give reward to such forum members? One idea was to allow a "like function" per forum post. We would then award "X" to the community member with the most likes during a certain period. Such a period could be weeks, months, seasons ..., as example. Other ideas? And, what is "X"? |

For the X I would say credits or honor badge. Until it’s not gameplay related I am fine with it. But to have tried to contribute in the past, I do not not do it for the reward. I did it for the fun and the community. Isn’t it enough?

I might be biased since I'm one of those contributing regularly, but I figured I'd chime in and give some perspective.
I don't do it for the recognition or some unknown reward. I do it to engage the community as it should end up in better player retention and more active forums. Also it should increase the desire for players to reach higher goals. "Those rankings are fun, I want to be a part of it." That being said, It's very time consuming. Just one ranking a week is easily a 3 hour event. There's formatting, research, attempted humor/references, and 32 teams. That's only 5 minutes a team to reach 2.5 hours. When other managers respond, either playing along or complimenting the piece, it adds to the motivation to keep going. But on weeks there is little interaction I wonder if I wasted 2-3 hours for no one's enjoyment. Some form of system that allows me to know others are enjoying my content even if they don't want to type it in the forum is absolutely welcomed. So thank you to those that did regularly comment for making the job easier and more fun/rewarding. |
