The forum has been quiet, and one method often used on other game sites to drum up activity is to get a game of Werewolf (or Mafia - same game, different name) going....

Assuming people are familiar with the game - I can explain if not - would anyone be up for it?

2 teams, size of teams depends on number of players. 1 person acts as referee.

Small team of bad guys.
Larger team of good guys.

Bad guys know who the other bad guys are.
Good guys know nobody's identities.

Bad guys need to eradicate good guys.
Good guys need to eradicate bad guys.

Game is played over day and night phases. During a day phase everyone votes for somebody to be killed. Night phase, the bad guys choose a good guy to be killed.

By following vote patterns and forum discussion, the general aim is for the good guys to work out who the bad guys are and ensure they get killed, while the bad guys try to 'blend in' with the good guys and avoid being killed.

Typically, in a game with about 15 players, it would start with 3 bad guys and 12 good guys.

There are other roles that can be used - scouts, protectors, vigilantes - which add to the fun and make it a little more complex!

I play a bad guy in real life, and I'm pretty good at it!

So in conclusion, yes I would be willing to try it.

so the referee is kind of a whitness, and receives the kill order from the bad boys, right?

Yes, the game needs a referee.

The referee randomly draws the roles and informs the players of them. The referee tallies the votes and applies the game rules, and posts the results of various actions in the game thread.

This is a typical game setup:
3 bad guys - they know each other and are allowed to communicate in private. They decide the 'night kill' target and inform the referee of their choice.
10 plain good guys - they know nobody's identity, and are only allowed to communicate via the forum thread.
1 'scout' - a good guy with the ability to investigate somebody during the night. This player tells the referee who is being investigated, the referee tells him the result.
1 'protector' - a good guy who has the ability to shield another player during the night, making them immune to being night killed by the bad guys. Typically they will try to work out who the scout is and shield them.

There are also lots of other roles possible:
Vigilante - has a one shot power to kill anyone at any time
Miller - a good guy who, if investigated by the scout, will appear evil...hehe
Masons - good guys who have limited scouting ability - if they find each other they are then allowed to communicate privately and work as a team

and many many more

I'm currently playing in a 25 person game, we don't know the numbers of good/bad guys, or even if any of the normal roles are present. It's incredibly paranoia inducing, but a lot of fun!

Yes, the game needs a lot more than 2!

Ideally at least 10, preferably 15-20. The biggest game I've seen had 32 - an epic Lord of the Rings themed game with 2 teams of bad guys!
