I do not get, how your system works.
Who can appoint a new PM, how? - Beside the fact the King has to accept. And why did you empower a bankster? Sorry, not meant to be offending, but I don't get it. |

When a Political Party has a majority in Parliament and their leader, who is the Prime Minister, resigns then that party votes for or accepts, if only one name is put forward, a new leader who then becomes Prime Minister. If a Political Party does not hold a clear majority in Parliament then that party could be forced back to the polls by a Members of Parliament vote of no confidence, or by the new party leader of that political party calling for a General Election. The voting population has no real say in the changes of the leaders of a political party, but should a General Election be called at an date earlier than the five year term normally in force then we, the people, will decide if we want that person to continue as Prime Minister. So, does the parlament has to actually vote for the acceptance?
It seems it doesn't have a say in this, even it would be only a formal act, since the majority party would likely vote 100%. |

The key thing to remember is it's not a presidential-esque system. Parliament and MPs are in control, the Prime Minister is just the leader of the power in party. Nobody needs to confirm them in, they just need to have the support of their party - they go to the King only because they're technically forming a new government (of the same party) so they need that new government agreed with the monarch.

Probably the other thing to say on this, is that we do not have proportional representation with our Parliament, we have a first past the post system whereby the Political Party than wins enough seats to become a Government means that Party's Leader becomes Prime Minister and that Party can change their leader and remain in power for five years if they have an overall majority in the House of Commons of our Parliament.
In a sane country? they have proportional representation and have a number of Political Parties in power at the same time. Joking hehe. |

I do not think the UK system is a good one. But I do not think the German, Russian, US-american etc. are better, at the same time. Anyone who can suggest a country with a really good system?
My paramaters would be - not too much power on one single person - no uncontrolled lobbyism - a limit on how many seasons you can run the job - no pure direct vote system, where the people have to vote on every single question. |
