our fellow user JohnHW is suggesting a change, after we had a little discussion in several forums about how depth charts works, what ingame-energy is, how it is related to physical conditions, and how players are chosen by the engine. Please review the following text, and vote, comment, whatever. Thanks a lot JohnHW wrote:
I propose changing the DC section of the manual to have three elements. They could be separated but are probably more useful together. Also if we could adjust the term "Fitness / Energy" on the match-settings form and the game stats pages (not sure what it tells us on the stats page) for consistency of terms, that would be great. Depth chart The Depth Chart is your way of setting the proper players into the proper positions. The engine checks for each single play and position if there is a player available on the DC. If you set more than one player per position, the depth chart uses the player selection rules to s e l e c t the appropriate player. There are up to 10 different sets of the DC available for supporters, but everyone has at least one DC. You decide in your match settings which DC set the engine will use on a per game basis. This enables you (if you are a supporter) to have different setups, like a DC with all your starters for league and cup matches and another one with your youngsters for friendlies. There is a maximum limit of 55 players that you are allowed to add on your depth chart, these become your active players for the game. If you create an incorrect Depth chart (too few players, too many players, no Depth chart selected) the engine will create an In-game Depth chart (IDC) for you. In case you have too few or no players in your Depth chart, the engine will fill the IDC with randomly selected guys out of your roster and use them for playing the game. If you have too many players in your Depth chart, the engine will cut the IDC until it meets the maximum roster count. Game Energy Each player starts the game with 100% energy and loses energy with each play they are on the field and regains energy when there is a play where they are not on the field. The rate at which they lose and regain energy is dependent upon their Physical Condition so a player with higher PC loses energy more slowly and regains it more quickly than a player with lower PC. Player Selection The engine checks for each single play and position if there is a player available on the DC. If there is more than one player on the DC for the position then it will s elect the eligible player closest to the top of the DC list for that position. Players are eligible for selection if they are uninjured and their Game Energy is above the value that you have set in your match-settings. Because players regain energy when not on the field for a play, and become injured and recover, players will become ineligible and then eligible again as the game progresses. If you tick the "first string player" tick-box, this player (or those players) in a position group (for example RB or ILB) will be preferred by the engine, no matter what else you set as the Game Energy substitution value within your match-settings, though selection between them (if more than one) will still consider Game Energy. The only chance for a substitution of a first-stringer by non-first-stringers is then if the first-string player gets injured in which case the engine will s elect another player from this position group, or if none are available the engine selects randomly from the IDC. |

Ok as I play with a { when a player needs to replace an on field player} it is good for a sub player to get game time. Q: for those that want change, if you pick a starter then next player down plays, when will your low skill number guys get match fit? just my way of playing - the Head Coach is then doing his job!! as such

The true difference is if newbies read the manual or they don't.
The old text was written by a non-native and the new one by a native, so going beyond the gramatical correctness, they are both understandable. I will answer "I don't care", but it doesn't mean that I didn't care  |

They, in this context, is singular so no need to switch to a gendered singular unless you really want to clarify it's only males playing.
