I think that the whole problem (or at least a large part) lies in the complexity of making a Playbook, of understanding it perfectly. And also a part of laziness, you have to admit it.
Going out to play with some initial basic PB's was a very good idea, now maybe we should take a leap forward and offer (supporters only?) different standard PB's and be able to choose. Offensive, Defensive, Suicidal, Conservative,... Try to "remove" for those who want it the obligation to create a PB and leave the PB's of 2000 lines to the experts. An expansion of what is there now, in short. |

An expansion of what is there now, in short. As a new player, I support this. It was a big read to understand everything, and I enjoyed it, but to be fair the playbook rules could become tedious and hard to maintain (even now that I'm half-season in). If you are a casual player it's fine, but if you don't want to be scouted easily, you have to add just pure randomness to your PB for every quarter/down/minute. I don't think this makes your PB smart or your manager skill smart. Still, I don't say there is no fun in it. Consequently, IDK if the game is in code/feature-freeze, but if not I would gladly support a version where we can have OC and DC (hired as extra coaches) to whom we can instruct strategies of this kind, or play style, or describe situations that are common like avoiding a dumb situation where the team tries FG when losing 3+. Yes, I'm aware you can 'catch' all these rules. |

There was masterplan when I created RedZoneAction. And this masterplan has almost all checkmarks ticked. But would I call it a feature freeze? Not really. But new features have to match the basic plan, and since it is still a spare time thing, a hobby of mine, the workload created by implementing features has to match my real life. The last one is the true issue here. |

I realized it's a personal project by lurking on the site and forum, so I understand there is a limit to the capacity to which you can dedicate your time to the game, please feel no pressure by my comments Back on topic, do you think that any kind of feature like this could end up in your todo list, or at least be put into consideration? |

Bottom line for such a 'change' is, dedicated managers could already today such playbooks and give it to the commmunity.
So the plan would be - create a playbook fitting the description, like 'conservative' - either make it open for discussion or simple distribute it to Peter - Peter add a list, say up to 10, buzzword playbooks with the discription created by the community I think for such some guidelines should be given, like max 100 line, details desciption is provided for certain situation covered and maybe some sort of philisophy behind the setup. The biggest secret on playbooks is, that usually no manager wants to share. This here would open the box a bit. |

to go one step further: just share the playbooks yu think are good. Everyone can export/import playbooks.

Glad you like it. Basiclly, I see no true reason to invest bigger amounts of time into it, right now. As pointed out before, and again today, nothing stops managers from sharing playbooks with each other. |

My proposal was more in that direction, than burdening Pete with additional work. jack6 wrote:

I see how this easily can grow into a 'meta', similar to TCG games, where there are deck creators and net deckers. Guides on this can include various aspects, which can let us explore the game even more. Examples: - playbooks that go along well with a weak/beginner team roster - playbooks that are risky, and do great with strong teams, and very bad with average - etc. Then, we can finally re-open the argument again: is a 2 line playbook, a real playbook? |
