This was my third draft and I can say that the depth has gotten progressively worse. Only a couple of studs and a whole lot of project players. The only player I really wanted was a 19 yo WR (was drafted 10th - now Ivano Veronese - Dolphins Pisa).
So I went for what I thought were the best in youth, talent, exp and traits. Here's what I ended up with: 1st Round (17th pick) - 21yo - talent 4.5* - exp 4* - FB now Kraig Bowens. This is only player I've seen with 3 traits so I thought what the heck. He will train at TE after the position lock and play at FB while still keeping his traits active. He needs alot of balancing but the hope is that he can start next season. 2nd Round (49th pick) - 19yo - talent 4.5* - exp 3* - HB now Dannie Canfield. This pick is a bit of a sleeper for me. He's got Track Star and Ball Manager and hopefully will replace 2 RB's that have each trait in a couple of seasons. 3rd Round (81st pick) - 19yo - talent 4.5* - exp 3* - SF now Orville Buckingham 
There was nothing left at this point. The goal with was to find a servicable player. This guy is similar in his low TW/INT to another CB I use and has the Long Reach trait. He needs the most physical training of the 3, with his strength at just 31.5 and his speed yellow at 45.6. Overall and compared to the last 2 drafts, I pretty much got 3 project players which is fine with me....for now...lol Best of luck in week 1 everyone!  |

Here's my way-too-early predictions for the league this season:
AC: Gunn and Idlers battle to be atop the East, (but I have to pick the Idlers to take it,) while Champ, Cardiac, and Panthers easily take their divisions. There's a real battle for the 6th playoff spot, but I'm guessing Aberthaw takes it. NC: Chattanooga and that other Tennessee team once again battle for the top of the East, and I'm thinking Tennessee does it again. Pitcairn edges out Bonaval in the North. Niceville and Mustangs duke it out in the South, with Niceville just inching out the top spot. Roadrunners, being the only non-newbie in the West should coast to the top there. The rough battle will be for the 2 wildcard spots. I'm not even going to guess which teams get that done. Looking even farther ahead, Idlers and Cardiac fight for the AC champ spot, a series which the Jackets tend to win, and Niceville once again advances to Elite with a win over Tennessee for the NC championship. A personal prediction: The Idlers will lose more games in the Supercup than in League play, which doesn't happen very often at all. |

I pounded this out last night but wanted to check a few more things before posting. We have some new teams so sorry if I don’t capture everyone here, but this is my Season 55 Fire League preview.
AC EAST Gunn made the move to the AC East this season and will likely be competing with the Idaho Idlers for the division championship. Ions has turned a corner on their roster and could be a wild card threat this season. Salopian Flame had a tough season 54 but look primed to improve their record this year as well. Should be a very interesting race as the Idlers continue with their rebuild, but the edge goes to the Idlers here. With Olband back on the sidelines, I think they are going to be a lot more formidable than their rating would suggest. AC NORTH This division is getting more and more interesting every time I look at it. The Aberthaw Dolphins are led by a savvy manager and look ready to improve on a successful season 54 campaign. They will be looking to knock off the reigning division champs, Champ Chompers, who got knocked out of the first round of last season’s playoffs by… Aberthaw Dolphins. This is becoming a rivalry folks. Let’s not forget about the Willoughby Wookies though. They missed the playoffs last season by one win! Not league related, but these same Wookies took home a power mode friendly cup trophy last season. Don’t sleep on the Wookies in Season 55! AC SOUTH Yet another division that is really getting to be very competitive. The CardiacJackets, my favorite to win it all last season, look to dominate the AC South once again. The STEELERS have really come together though, and their team rating is one of the highest in Fire! Dolphins Pisa have an experienced manager, but their roster may not be able to keep them in the race this season. This is another race that may come down to the last few games of the season. AC WEST Reapers has also started to turn the corner with their roster. They had a great run last season, going 5-1 down the stretch, but just missed the playoffs. Their main competition and reigning division champ, Panthers, made it all the way to the Conference Championship. I think Panthers is probably one of the most underrated teams in Fire and I would not be surprised to see them make a return to Elite after this season. This should be another great race to the end! NC EAST Two of my favorite teams to follow play in this division. Both the Chattanooga Express and the Tennessee Frontiersmen are capable teams that could go deep in the playoffs this season. The Express lost a nail biter to the Guns last season in the wild card round of the playoffs, while the Frontiersmen took it all the way to the conference championship game where they too lost by one score. Both these teams are on a collision course and could end up facing off three times in season 55! 
NC North The North is the home of the Bonaval Acorns and the Pitcairn Bounty Mutineers. Two teams led by seasoned managers that play above their roster strength. With that said, both teams appear to be rebuilding to some extent. There is likely only one playoff team coming from this division and I really don’t have an idea as to which one it will be. They both may also surprise me! NC SOUTH Gladiatori Roma is coming off a rebuild but seem to have developed their roster very nicely this last season. They had a tough end to Season 54 and missed the playoffs, but I think they have a real chance to improve their record this season. The Mustangs are the reigning division champs and they had another incredible run in season 54 going 15-1. The Niceville Norsemen are bouncing back into Fire from their second foray into Elite League. This is likely to be a two-team race between the Norsemen and Mustangs. One I intend to win. Sorry Stangs! 
NC WEST My apologies to the NC West, but the only team I know in this division is the BW Roadrunners now. I expect that they will take the division this season and get a shot in the playoffs. 
That’s it! Nothing left to do but get started! See you all on the field!

Guys the Season55 starts in 10 mins- - great that Ol and BoaTek are on the forum, Can I fill a few gaps- the Guns move to Division was was because of the guys back on Fire Forum, along with the fun.. Strong League this time when we saw the others move up a gear - IONS-Wookies- Reapers-Roadrunners are due some think time.. the West I left since has 2 NooB or BOT with the Italian team due a better win loss. the Gunn team are looking at 3 Wins IF that -
 good to keep the guys in Fire so maybe they will let the teams that WANT Elite, go up.. |

Well, outside of our special teams, IONS has the edge in this game for the most part. And being as I have no idea how to look at history of games played in prior seasons, no adaptation to playbook to make so we're just going on hope here. Hopefully, my team will put the ball in the endzone for a chance and kick a few less FGs. lol
Reapers appreciates the love, but we're still a season away from being anything better than competitive I think. But hey, who knows. Football is football, and I sure as hell won't go down without a fight. Good luck all! |

This season I wanted to challenge the Gunns, now they are hiding in AC East 
Joke, but it's a shame, my group is getting boring now. Nevertheless, I'm happy that with a stronger team I won't be able to give away the points so easily. I look forward to every single match against all of you. It's great that the league and the forum are still so active. Let's rock this season, have fun and enjoy the game |

The draft doesn't hold much weight compared to it when we were newbies, but at least I landed a linebacker. Beggers will be choosers! All I know is my team is still game on as long as we can compete. Good luck to all of my opponents this season! We'll be more of a force next season in elite. Don't get it twisted the CardiacJackets will be competitive so buckle your seat belts!
