Lol, didnt believe this could be so confusing.

I find the old way quite boring, I must admit. So my goal was to produce kind of a tournament with raised bars. Si I thought about what could happen, and what might be answers to refuse the whole thing. "I do not understand" was not part of my collection.

Why should a team enter the first stage at all, if it is much less complicated to win the competition by entering at a later stage? Because if those first 16 teams do not come together and fight, the thing will not kickoff ...

However, I am open for changes, as long as we do not run the quite boring format of several qualification cups and one final cup.

It may be that confusion is my default state of mind, and it's still early

The tools to field a tournament are quite limited.

But I try a different approach, to make it toucher.

STAGE 1
16 small competition, so 8 teams. 128 teams total.
ALL teams advance, but are sorted in TOP 4 (playoff teams) of each cup in bracket 1 and BUTTOM 4 (non playoff teams) in bracket 2.

STAGE 2
8 mid level competions, so each with 16 teams,
bracket 1 (4 cups with each 16 from TOP 4)
TOP8 of this round (playoff teams) advance to stage 3, would be 64.
bracket 2 (4 cups with each 16 from BUTTOM 4), TOP 4 (semi finale teams) advance to stage 3, would be 32.

STAGE 3
4 mid level competions, with 16 teams each from bracket 1, TOP 8 advance to stage 4, would be 32.
2 mid level competions with 16 teams each from bracket 2, TOP 4 semi finales teams) TOP 8 advance to stage 4, would be 16.
8 small level competions with 8 teams each of late attendance and/or 2nd chance, winner and runner up advance to stage 4, would be 16.

STAGE 4
2 major level competions with 32 teams each. TOP 8 of each advance to final stage. IMPORTANT; each competions is filled 1/2 bracket 1, 1/4 bracket 2 and 1/4 2nd chance.

FINAL STAGE
1 mid level competions with 16, winner gets the trophy.

Don't know how to handle the credits here.

That's the point where I see this whole thing fail from the start: I'd think you won't get 128 teams to participate in this, like I mentioned earlier (see the last post on page 1 of this thread). That's why I get the idea by Pete to let the same teams apply to every other round again, if they wish...

I agree.
I know that Pete doesn't want to, but i'm sticking with my "old but gold" editions of IECC qualifiers. There are +200 managers right now. If at least 50 will participate that is a good thing considering we have to use credits.

You can always shrink the field by any multiple of 2, so 64 or even 32.

But honestly, I don't care anyway.

It's a nice idea to play for a hardware trophy, but just offer spots and whoever is runner up or winner gets to the final competition.

In the past there was even 1 winner not honoring the story part of the competion, so any way we play it, there is no safe spot to have a quality field of X teams playing for the trophy and with quaility I mean not the level of strength, I mean the mind set of the manager.

Good luck on the cup.

That was the intention, but at least every stage is clear.

I was going after anightmare to play, not a nightmare to organize. Notice to myself, make your goals more clear to others
