The NC Playoff Race
At the quarter pole with most teams having four games under their belt, let's take an early look at the playoff race. The NC has only gotten tougher since last season and let's not forget a strong 12-4 +152 Sheffield Wednesday team failed to make the playoffs last year. That 5th loss for any team is sure to be fatal this season. NC East Sheffield Wednesday leads at 3-1 with the Bergen close behind at 2-1 and the Copenhagen Chargers a dead-level 2-2. The Downriver Seals got their first win and close out the division at 1-3. The early statement win by Wedneasday against the Bruisers is the only real in-division action we have seen so far. The Chargers went 1-2 in their tough tour of the NC North so far and it will be interesting to see how they match up in division play. STATUS: This is a 3 way toss up. Sorry Seals. NC North The St. Pauli Packers and Riga Smokers sit atop the division at 4-0. With the HAMBURG SEA LIONS(feels like shouting) and Hamburg Baltic Dogs tied for third at 1-3. The Pack have had a hard schedule to get to 4-0 while the Smokers are feasting on relatively easier opponents. Common wins against the SEA LIONS would also support giving the edge to St. Pauli at this point in the season. STATUS: The Packers should control this division but an argument can be made for all these squads in the North. NC South Social Distance Runners at 4-0, with the Northern Storm and Manta Rays at 2-2. dERBENT CONVICTS bring up the rear at 1-3. The Northern Storm is the only team to not feel the Runners wrath so far this season. The Manta Rays came out of the gate with back to back losses against the Weasels and the Runners but have put wins on the board against the CONVICTS and the Northern Storm to get back in the race. Here is a bold prediction:The Runners, with that gaudy 1180+ ELO will win this division. Status: Runners take the crown, but can any of the other 3 control the damage enough to get a wildcard? NC West Michigan Weasels at 4-0, followed by Vancouver Corsairs at 3-1, Minnesota Silver Foxes at 2-2 and the Minnesota Minotaurs at 0-4. Fun fact: The Weasels and Corsairs have captured 2 playoff spots for the West since season 56. That is how it looks now with Vancouver holding the final 6 seed right now. The Silver Foxes have suffered losses to both Michigan and Vancouver and will have to fight like hell to be a factor in the playoff race. STATUS: Weasels or Corsairs win the division, The other is in a fight for it's life to keep the streak going. Playoff seedings right now with record and PD 1. St. Pauli Packers 4 – 0 +124 2. Michigan Weasels 4 – 0 +115 3. Social Distance Runners 4 – 0 +106 4. Sheffield Wednesday 3 – 1 +42 5. Riga Smokers 4 – 0 +83 6. Vancouver Corsairs 3 – 1 +12 7. Bergen Bruisers 2 – 1 +10 8. Northern Storm(+55), Manta Rays(+9), Silver Foxes(-18) and C. Chargers(-37) all 2 - 2 |

There are not many bots now, which is nice. But I, for one, whenever we play a bot use a friendlies lineup where the weakest players play first... usually they are the developing players. So my PD is usually lower than others... yes. This year no bots yet, just that we are not being so good in attack as other years.

PD will decide whether I have to play in the wildcard round or not. Now, making one more tuddie in each game is easier than having to win one more playoff round. |

NC Playoff Race at Mid-Season
All teams have at least 8 games under their belt and the playoff race is coming into focus. Let's take a look. Team/ Record/ PD/ record of remaining schedule/ worthless commentary 1. Michigan Weasels 8-0 +306 (31-33)No way in heck this team is this good. 2. St. Pauli Packers 8-0 +252 (29-35)A Supercup loss to the Hamsters might signal trouble. 3. Social Distance Runners 8-0 +196 (38-28) The lurking Monster. 4. Sheffield Wednesday 8-1 +296 (30-26)Somehow these cheaters have 9 games! 5. Bergen Bruisers 6-2 +119 (27-39)GP has turned this squad into major contenders. 6. Vancouver Corsairs 6-2 +62 (22-43) Easiest schedule of all contenders.. 7. HAMBURG SEA LIONS 4-4 +70 (40-33)ALL CAPS STILL SEEMS LIKE SHOUTING! 8. Manta Rays 4-4 +68 (34-31) Big loss last week to Vancouver. Could have been the 6 seed. 9. Riga Smokers 4-4 -18 (37-27) Team has coughed up 4 straight losses. 10. Minnesota Silver Foxes 4-4 -45 (30-34) Easiest schedule of the 4-4 teams. Can they take advantage? Races: NC North and NC South: A four game lead for the Runners and Packers has almost sealed their division titles. NC East and NC West: Division Crown day is August 12 for both divisions. Vancouver heads to Michigan and The Bergen Bruisers travel to Sheffield Wednesday for crucial games. Wins by the visitors could see them taking the division, losses could see them falling out of the playoffs to one of the current 4-4 teams. Wildcard: What all this boils down to is this. Any team out of the playoffs right now at 4-4 better damn near run the table to have a shot at the playoffs. The current division leaders all have 8 wins so they will be very tough to catch. The only other hope is to grab a wildcard spot, but remember both the Bruisers and Corsairs have a fairly easy schedule ahead of them and a 2 game lead on the 4-4 teams. It is not going to be easy to break into the playoffs if you are not a seeded team right now. Last edited on 2025-07-28 01:53:58 by Stabler12 |

We decided two games in to use this season to train up players rather than keep them fit & go for wins in a division that is far too competitive to expect success. I anticipate this will be Northern Storm’s worst season record to date, but also the season in which our roster makes the biggest strides forward. Remains to be seen whether we must do the same next season, or not.

NC Playoff Race after a super duper exiting week
All teams have 11 games under their belt and the playoff race is coming into focus. Let's take a look. Team/ Record/ PD/ significant opponents and worthless commentary 1. Michigan Weasels 11-0 +395 No way in heck this team is this good. August 12 Vancouver Corsairs. 2. St. Pauli Packers 10-1 +286 Loss to Radu will have no effect. Mild schedule 3. Social Distance Runners 10-1 +265 Runners face a murderers row down the stretch. Devon Warriors, Northern Storm, dERBENT CONVICTS, Sheffield Wednesday and Manta Rays. 4. Sheffield Wednesday 9-2 +351 Bergen Bruisers visit August 12th 5. Vancouver Corsairs 9-2 +183 Weasels on the 12th. It would be difficult to imagine the Canadians losing 3 games down the stretch to put them in reach of the wildcard wannabes. 6. Bergen Bruisers 8-3 +168 Sheffield Wednesday on the 12th. I don't see the Bruisers with 5 losses either. The 2 game gap to the playoff teams is going to be really difficult to bridge. 7. Manta Rays 6-5 +123 So you say we got a chance? 8. HAMBURG SEA LIONS 6-5 +63 BIG VICTORY AGAINST WEDNESDAY POINTS TO BRIGHTER DAYS AHEAD, JUST NOT THIS YEAR 9. Northern Storm 5-6 +49 Murderers row part Duex: Rays, Runners, Weasels, Hamsters and CONVICTS. Oh my! 10. Minnesota Silver Foxes 5-6 -69 Playbook has gone haywire. More drama on this team than a daytime soap opera. 11. Riga Smokers 5-6 -75 Team had coughed up 6 straight losses. Before a win against the Baltic Dogs. 12. Minnesota Minotaurs 4-7 -144 One more pass through the NC West should keep the Minotaurs below 500. |

Anybody remember when I said something about August 12? Time to decide two regions. Bruisers at Wednesday for the East and Vancouver at Michigan for the West. Good Luck to all.

Our form was excellent at the beginning of the season but my young side seem to be faltering now. Big game today, might throw a curveball at the playbook |
