Why are we starting on March 8th? That seems like a long time from now. Can't we start sooner? Second. What division am I in? I'm not complaining, I'm just saying Group 2 looks like I walked into a some sort of Eurovision contest. At least I will have plenty of time between now and March to scout everyone. Seas Devils Friendly Cup Preseason Report
Group 1 "Sesame Street" Everyone in the US can tell you that Sesame Street is where Big Bird lives. The Bergen Bruisers, Manta Rays and Riga Smokers are all playing for 2nd place. The Constanta Ravens (S59) are too tough. Giving the edge for second place to the resurgent Bruisers. Group 2 "Eurovision 2025 now with Weasels" I couldn't pick a more random group of teams if I tried. Number of past winners in the division =0 Michigan Weasels, HAMBURG SEA LIONS, Kojarnik HighTowers. and Rome Centurions. I see this being the opposite of group 1. Rome Centurions are going to be out and the other 3 are a coinflip to emerge out of group 2. Group 3 "Damn, that's a strong group" Black Knights, Sheffield Wednesday (S51), Social Distance Runners (S58) and the defending Champion, St. Pauli Packers (S55&S60). Wow. 3 past champions and the Packers have done it twice. Packers and Runners are favored to get out of this group. Group 4 "the Group with the Canadians in it" dERBENT CONVICTS, Ghost of Bautzen (S57), Hamburg Baltic Dogs and Vancouver Corsairs (S53 & S56) The Dogs and CONVICTS will have to pull some major upsets to keep the past winners from getting out of this group. Day 1 Recap
Lets go! Group1 Manta Rays upset Ravens 45:31! Ray QB Edgaras Balandis threw for four TD's and the wily veteran was picked only once. But he paid a price. Those four sacks were all brutal. Should have been penalty on both of Herea's sacks on that poor old man Balandis. That level of wanton violence on tackles against a beloved player at home was uncalled for and I have to hand it to a sold out home crowd for being polite in their comments to/about/concerning Mr. Herea during and after the game. Bergen Bruisers take care of business 41:7 Only 22 yards on the ground for the Smokers. Group 2 Weasels 41:13 over HAMBURG SEA LIONS. Weasel QB Terrence "Thunder" Bolt was masterful throwing for four touchdowns, but it was the defense won the game. THEY HAD TO WITHSTAND THE OVERWHELMINGLY DOMINANT TIME OF POSESSION OF THE HAMBURG SEAS LIONS. GOING 11 OF 20 ON THIRD CONSTANTLY THREATEND Michigan's bend, don't break defense. HighTowers 48:34 over a good Centurion team. A great game from TE Michale Krueger who had 3 td's for the HighTowers. Group 3 The glad I'm not there group is living up to expectations. Sheffield wins a close one 28-23 against the Black Knights. After giving up 2 4 th quarter touchdowns, Wednesday was able to get some first downs and run off the last 3:46 of clock for the win. St. Pauli crushes the Runners 41:20 It was over at halftime when the Packers went in up 24:6. In total The Pack put up 575 yards of total offense today. Those kind of numbers get the job done. Group 4 dERBENT CONVICTS show the Hamburg Baltic Dogs the door 45:37 TE led the CONVICTS with 21 catches for 191 yards and two trips to the endzone today. Close game could have gone either way. The Ghost of Bautzen terrorize the Vancouver Corsairs 41:28 The 2 picks thrown by Cary were disastrous for the Canadians. |

Sea Devils Friendly Cup week #2
Vast amounts of modeling has gone into analyzing this Sundays matchups. After parsing all the data here at Weasel HQ, we have come up with some conclusions. In a nutshell let me explain the complex dynamics of the Friendly Cup group stage: 2 Wins=Good, 2 Losses= Bad. Group 1 Sesame Street Ravens battle Bruisers and Smokers take on Rays. Ravens And Smokers need to avoid that 2nd loss. Group 2 Eurovision 2025 + Weasels Rome Centurions and HAMBURG SEA LIONS battle. Winner stays alive, loser is out. HighTowers take on the Weasels, Winner moves on to next round, loser is 1-1. LATE BREAKING NEWS: The Rome Centurions have changed their name to the Rome Centvrions. We are not sure how this old school spelling change is going to help against the HSL but we here at Weasel HQ like it. Group 3 Don't want to be in this group Black Knights in a must win game against St. Pauli Packers. Same for Social Distance Runners against Sheffield Wednesday. Group 4 Where the Canadians play Hamburg Baltic Dogs and Vancouver Corsairs in a must win game for both teams. Loser is out. Ghost of Bautzen Takes on dERBENT CONVICTS. Sea Devil Friendly Cup Day 2 Recap
Day 2 of the Sea Devils Friendly cup is over. All four groups have a leader at 2-0, 2 teams at 1-1 and one team at 0-2. Unfortunately, thanks to new German quantum computing we are unable to clearly identify what this means. Let's get to the analysis! Group 1 Ravens beat Bruisers 38:23. That puts them both at 1-1 but the Bergen Bruisers still have the PD advantage. Manta Rays snuff out the Riga Smokers 31:16. Weasel mathemagicians predict that the Manta Rays now have a 78.652% chance of advancing out of the first round since they are now 2-0. Can we have a 3 team finish at 2-1 or at 1-2? Yes, but the Germans will have to figure this out as it is to complicated for this writer. Group 2 HighTowers stomp Weasels 20:16. HighTowers now 2-0 and in the lead in Group 2. But since the Germans have created their own uncertainty principle, we don't know what this means. HAMBURG SEA LIONS DEVOUR Centvrions 38:27. Have you ever noticed that HSL seem to have a Weasel on their helmet? This could be a serious trademark infringement. The Weasel Legal team is looking into it. Group 3 Packers send the Black Knights packing 37:31 in overtime! An overtime victory should only be worth 3/4 of a win. Who is with me on this? I'd like to see that German computer deal with that 3/4 point. Social Distance Runners run over Sheffield Wednesday 27:20. Both teams now at 1-1. Group 4 This group is the only group with some certainty to it. Bautzen spooks the CONVICTS 40-27. Forget the silliness of other groups, Ghost of Bautzen at 2-0 is onto the next round. CONVICTS fall to 1-1. Corsairs kick the Dogs 37-24. Corsairs playing CONVICTS next week for final advancing spot. Hamburg Baltic dogs are done at 0-2.
