The issue that I have is that in my SC division. Navy won the division, goes bot with one game to go, loses that game, and now we have a highly competitive(bot with 1 loss, second and third place had 2 losses, fourth and fifth had 3 losses) SC division with no human advancing. It's a big slap in the face to all of those teams that no one ends up getting to play in the playoffs.

mmm - Have to agree that is a problem. Then no idea what the best solution is: to keep the bots competitive seems to be (generally) fairer to all, but the SC is a problem with only having one team go through.

Mind you I have to say that I personally dislike the SC for at least a couple of reasons mainly :

1. Only the most powerful team will go through so just by looking at the teams in your division you know who will go through (the elite team if there is one) before any games are played.

2. The most successful teams will get even more money by having more playoff games so helping them to stay most successful.

However, rather than see a bot team's players go to free agency why not let a newcomer take over the bot team? In RL when a coach leaves the team doesn't sack all its players and then make the new guy start again from scratch with school or college kids... So why do we?

Thematically, without a manager how would the team pay for all of those great players on the bot team?

Forgot to answer that

It is not the manager who pays for the players but the team owner(s). Even without a manager teams still function and will get income from games etc.

What about Pete making the better bot teams available to managers at season roll over. You could sell them from the game directly to the player. Example have higher rated teams go for more money. 60 team value at say 50 euro and a 70 rated team at 100 euro. Also give them a default bank account of say 50 to 100 million.

If you don't know a game and have no idea if you stick around... would you pay 50 €/$ for a team in a game?!

The only potential buyers would be managers that are back from a break... and I for one would rather start all over from scratch than take over someone elses team for a biggish amount of money and get ripped of the feeling that I built that team myself.

I think the bot teams should just be more competitive. They should scale with the league they are in. I'm fine with bot teams losing most of the time, but we should still have to put in some effort.
