DE are the players who do most of the sacks in NFL... So it wouldn't be so much realistic if they don't go anymore for it.

I think we have an issue with Blitz meaning. There's a blitz when the number of defensive players outnumber the offensive blockers. That's why we talk about LB or SF blitz. IMO however, a DE will always go for the sack and could pass his block sometimes. But yes, it's not called a blitz in this situation.

The main job of a DE is killing QBs. I am not satisfied if they only stop the runners.

I'm not sure if stuff is being lost in translation a little here or not.
The new blitzing seems to me to be additional pass rushing. The DL should continue to do what they do already - stuff runs or rush the QB. LB/SF blitzing is, I believe, in addition to the DL doing their normal job. |

Maybe the confusion has more to do with the description of Fearsome:
Fearsome Quarterbacks are scared just by this player lining up across from them. Fearsome gives a 5% chance to cause the QB to feel hurry pressure when this player is blitzing, valid for DL or LB This sort of implies that the only benefit from Fearsome occurs while blitzing. 1. Not sure if there are additional benefits. 2. Or if DEs with fearsome will get this bonus for every pass pass as they are always blitzing. Steve SD Blitz |
