it is a pain in ass to sort 96 players but i will not use the labels but sort them
i will bring them into order i want them that is it Jack very good described possible negative effect of labels and labels i see total worthless better have a field in front of each player i can input order number and then sort button would be more helpful and effizient! |

This would be a major change but the best way would be (in my opinion of course) to have some kind of draft list by position and to address team needs.
So you only have to sort the players by value per position (still have to sort them, but it would be 14 position lists) and then defining a possible round for them. But that round would be a max not a min! So a second round labeled player would be selected in 2 or 3, never in 1 (if still 1 rounder are available). A 1 rounder would still be selected in round 2 or even 3 if available. After that address the needs in a extra list by saying which position in which number is needed. By the way, I think the amount of round should be higher. Peter ... by thinking over that labeling ... wouldn't that min/max rule save the day for the current system? Example: you sort and lable 20 players for round 1 you sort and label 50 players for round 2 you sort and lable the rest with round 3 No comes the draft. In every round the engine picks the highest sorted player from that round if available, otherwise skip to next labeled round and so on. That way yyou don't have to sort them from 1 to 96 They cound be 1321323311122333 instead of 1111112222223333 Engine would then sort them by itself from highest to lowest per labeled round in three list. still not good, but ok. Would be perfect then, if a player could address sorting with selfdefined rules, so like per position: Player selects LB, OL, CB, QB and so on and the engine sorts the list that way. |

Good idea Jack and one possible strategy.
You know this for sure from Fantasy Football and also reflects drafting strategie for lot of teams in real. But with only 3 picks we make i prefer to go with the "BPA" Strategy and i dont see on first read how this strategy could work on your model. Please we are descussing so not need to declare it to me. Overall yes would be nice to have a "max need" strategy possible to give in as input - but not limit only to this strategy. |

But you could still look for the best player available.
At least my second part was regarding helping the label to become more userfriendly and usable. For my first part ... OK, this would count for "needs before talent", but you still would scout the players and therefore now there values. So you would just have to change the needed positions. Not easy to implement a fool proof logic. |

Just a small note on the Draft and Suggestions that come up for it.
The Draft will stay as it is, at least for this and next 2 seasons. There will be possible bugfixes of course, and one change during the next weeks: you will be able to trigger scouts for more than 1 player at the same time, of course based on the known limits for scout reports. There are no other plans to change it, not based on suggestions, and not based on my plan behind the scenes. So please proceed with discussing, but accept that I will stay away from making comments like "yes, on ToDo". |

The draft is okay as it is. I'm one of those who will build a spreadsheet off-line no matter how the draft is presented, because I want to set up various formulas to evaluate the players and sort them a thousand-and-one different ways.
3 rounds seems about right, too. In nine seasons you have 27 drafted players, age 18~30. With youth pulls and free agents that's a lot of potential quality players. |

rookie question:
My roster is full. do I need to make room before the draft for three players or do I have time (1 training period) to cut/sell players after the draft? |
