I'm in. I noticed a huge absence of comments re: my rookie cup suggestion, so I figure I'll learn about cups by participating in one, and then see if I can help encourage something rookie-centric.

Two slots left eh? Nice to see the Galrauch Raiders in the cup. They were good enough to give me my first Friendly. I came close in that match.

I lost 45-0.

Ho hum. . .

Dear all,

Just a quick note to say that we have enough applicants, and I will activate the final spot on Thursday 05th Jan.

In the meantime wishing you all a very happy 2012!

I wrote to a lot of coaches to see if we could get enough interest to make it a 16 team competition, and I said I would wait until Thursday to give them a chance to apply.

Although it doesn't look like we will have enough interest, I'm going to wait - it's only fair.

Happy New Year!

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! assemble all for the U.K. Challenge Cup....

Thesps first round predictions:

Hebridean Academicals @ Leeds Celtics
The Celtics have exploded onto the RZA scene, and are one out of two Challenge Cup participants ranked in the top 25 of the entire RZA (I can but dream), and have a very very effective Offense, both Rushing and Passing.
The Academicals are currently testing their QB for colour blindness – he completes as many passes to the opposing Defence as he does to his own Offense. Just as indicatively, these Teams have already met competitively this Season in the Supercup: the Celtics won 45-21
The call: Celtics to win by at least 14

Dreigiau Cymreig @ BobKats
Dreigiau are the youngest club in the Cup, only having been formed just over a month ago, but they are making great strides with a good Roster and Youth Academy and much promise for the future.
Unfortunately they are up against a Knight of RZA. The all mean Manx Cat Defense goes so deep in LB and DB’s that they probably won’t get tired until sometime in 2013, and it looks like it will be a very long day in the field for the Welsh Dragons
The call: Bobkats by at least 21

Galrauch Raiders @ N.I. Ravens: TIE OF THE ROUND
In a parallel universe Monkey has shown immense coaching skills and incredible tactical nous to bring a World Cup home to the United Kingdom. More importantly, Monkeys dedication to preparation is LEGEND, so this is one Team you do NOT want to face in a tight Cup Competition.
The Ravens have lost precisely 0 (yes zero) competitive matches this campaign. It can be argued that the Claymore top Division is not the strongest, BUT, check out the Ravens QB Carman (should be renamed Rolls-Royce). He has only thrown 3 Interceptions in over 1200 pass attempts........ the Accies QB threw 3 in the last game alone!!
The Call: Sitting on the fence, for once not watching the Cheerleaders

Holmewood Hawks @ Cheshire Cats
The Hawks are also relative newcomers to the League and a very big credit goes to the Head Coach who obviously Trains and Rotates his All-Brit players EXCEPTIONALLY well...... in a very short time for example, the Hawks have not one, not two, but THREE quality LB’s, and they will need to be at playing at 110% on Wednesday. Even then it will probably not be quite enough.
The Cats are coached by another Knight, and mentor of RZA who has only lost 2 competitive matches this Season, and most impressively beat the Raiders in a League Match in early December. They have a very impressive FB/RB combination who I think will have the better of the Hawks LB’s. Points Difference could be VERY VERY important in Group B, and I don’t think there will be much mercy shown
The call: The Cats by at least 14
