Week 2 Predictions.......

Dreigiau Cymreig @ Leeds Celtics
Even though the Accies Defense guessed correctly in the majority of plays last week and shoved an 8 man front against a Rush when they did, the Celtics racked up over 400yds on the ground. The Celtics Offensive Line is something to behold, crushing DL put before them like a juggernaut does a hedgehog. Add to that a very neat and solid passing game and a coach meticulously honing his team on the intricacies of the Shotgun formation, this is one very impressive and committed Team.
Wow, the Dragons came so close to a giant-killing last week. Their QB Jarret Delaney will have to improve though this time - 5 interceptions against the Kats (including that fateful one on the opp 1 yd line). The Dragons Defense was solid though, with very good efforts from DL Tom Connell and LB Ike Bishop. The Welsh lads will definitely be pumped up, and maybe the travelling fans will try and evoke that Millenium Stadium atmosphere in the Celtics Graveyard .
The call: Celtics to win by at least 14

Hebridean Academicals @ BobKats
No doubt the Kats have had the Ferguson/boot lecture every day this week until they see their Coach in their dreams (or rather nightmares). There will be a lot of pressure on the RB’s Dowell, Hendrickson, Shannon and Richard who will be comfortably too strong for their opponents backfield - if they can break through. The Kats weak spot might be their OL who appear to be underperforming – only Tony Casillas (out of their 9 rotating starters) seems to be making a name for himself. However, defensively they should be fine: their DB’s have a total of 21 Ints, and they have a couple of stand-out DL’s in Corona and Bowens and a great set of LB’s.
The Accies have bought in a couple of colourful coaches from Bermuda and the Pitcairn Islands to try improve the Defence and add some morale at the same time, but the cure is simple - the OL need to punch some holes for the RB’s, the QB has got to find HIS receivers - not this weeks Int happy opponents, and MOST importantly the DL have to overcome last weeks humiliation and get in the faces of their opponents.
The call: Bobkats by at least 21

Holmewood Hawks @ N.I. Ravens
The Carmanator got Sacked for the very first time this Season in last weeks BIG game, but that still didn’t stop him - it’s now only 3 Interceptions in over 1500 pass attempts, oh and they also have 3 RB’s who average over 6 yards a pop. The Ravens LB’s had to work very hard last week, and I’m sure a lot more is expected of their DL this time out.
The Hawks RB Pytel averaged a very creditable 7.2yds per rush against the Cats last week, but his back-ups weren’t nearly as productive. As expected their LB’s were constantly in the battlefield last week, making almost twice as many Tackles as the DL, and overall the Defense did very well in containing the Cats until the 4th Quarter where they were just too exhausted. A well Coached Team, and they won’t be a rollover for the Ravens
The Call: Ravens by 14

Cheshire Cats @ Gaulrauch Raiders - game of the week
The Cats pummelled away at the Hawks last week, and you wouldn’t want to be facing FB Blot or RB McClendon without padding as they are the stereotypical Piledrivers who have only one gear – forward. And on the rare occasions he gets the chance QB Sang is a very useful passer (68% completion rate).
A must win game for the Raiders, and I think this could be a classic. The Raiders strong point looks to be their DL, with a lot of Tackles and forced fumbles: Virgil Simon has 8 Forced Fumbles and 5 Fumble Recoveries alone. Offensively the Raiders are very balanced, but the whole Offence will have to make their mark, as they did struggle against the Ravens. I’m sure their coach will be pouring over the Playbook, even as I write.
The Call: The Cats by 7

Week 2:

Dreigiau Cymreig 7 - Leeds Celtics 61
The Celtics rack up 543yds total Offence, and cut the Dragons down to size

Hebridean Academicals 0 - BobKats 55
The BobKats complete over 75% of their passes, the Accies precisely 7% as the Highlanders suffer a massacre, and the BobKats show their true pedigree

Holmewood Hawks 3 - N.I. Ravens 35
The Ravens prove swifter than the Hawks..... and the Carmanator is relentless

Cheshire Cats 26 - Gaulrauch Raiders 6
HB’s run riot as the Cats loot the Raiders

Week 3 Odds:

Only 4 Teams can win the Cup now, with very little to choose between them. But the defining factor in the Odds calculator are that the Cheshire Cats and the N.I. Ravens are both still in the Supercup, and the Ravens in the last 8 of the Champ of Champs cup too.

The Odds:

N.I. Ravens: Evens
Cheshire Cats: 2-1
Leeds Celtics: 3-1
BobKats: 3-1

Dreigiau Cymreig @ Hebridean Academicals – Game of the week
There’s not much more that needs be said about the Accies apart from... Offence yet to score a single point in the competition and the Defence has been as robust as the proverbial chocolate teapot. Will somebody, anybody, show some backbone?
The Dragons walked into a whirlwind last week, but their Running game should make some more headway this time out. However it’s a question on Offence of how few mistakes the Passing game makes. Defensively they will be hoping for a big game from star LB Isaiah Manson – 3 Sacks and 7 Interceptions so far this Season.
The call: This game is there to be won for the Avatar Challenge........... Accies by 1

BobKats @ Leeds Celtics
You could call the BobKats Offence ‘Bi-Polar': they have 8 ball carriers who each average over 5yds a carry. But they are very uncomfortable when Passing - they have tried 4 players at QB this Season and only thrown 26 TD’s compared to 17 Ints. The Defence is beautifully balanced especially at LB and DB, and CB Gomes has 9 Ints this Season.
After the Ravens, the Celtics have the most impressive Offence in the Cup – a VERY accurate short passing game, and 5 of their 6 main Rushers average over 6yds a carry. Defensively they have a great set of CB’s who are probably salivating in anticipation in facing the BobKats, and a very solid Defensive Line too.
The call: Celtics by 3

Holmewood Hawks @ Gaulrauch Raiders
Despite 2 defeats so far, The Hawks’ strength is their Defence. What a great set of LB’s they have, and a very useful CB in Janggok as well. Their Offence is still a work in progress - RB’s Pytel and Bitius are playing well, and WR Adrien Laws has chipped in with twice as many TD’s as the other receivers. You just feel it’s lack of experience that is stopping them from scoring more freely.
It’s apparent that everyone in Raiders organisation is disappointed in this Cup campaign, and unfortunately for the Hawks, we expect the Raiders to finish with a flourish. FB Nagle and RB McMullen will batter away at the Hawks DL, and Sackmeister DL Marquez will no doubt be doing extra work in the Video Suite to check his lines of attack
The Call: Raiders by 14

Cheshire Cats @ N.I. Ravens
The Cats may be predictable on Offence, but that makes it even more impressive that nobody can stop them. FB Blot and HB McClendon just ‘keep on runnin..’ and QB Sang Schmidt is absolutely reliable on the rare occasions when called upon. Defensively they are a brick wall, and we may have a classic match-up in this game if Superstar CB Thies Cardon has popped his Ginseng, checked his biorhythms and put his contact lenses in.
This Ravens Offence, wow: REALLY hard hitting on the ground, and the Carmanator running at 109 TD passes so far this Season - can mercurial Cats CB Cardon find a way to read the Titanium ones passes? On Defence, the Raiders are more aggressive than a pit-Bull with a bone..... they’ve scored 35 defensive TD's this campaign
The Call: The Ravens by 7

A very tough game today against the Bobkats.. when they held my lot on their goalline in the 1st quarter, we missed the kick, then they broke a 69 yard pass, I thought it would not be our day.... we dominated the rest of the 1st half, but kept failing to get into the endzone.

The 2nd half was a different story. My D tired horribly, the Bobkats moved the ball well, but turned the ball over at crucial moments.

I need more depth at DL if I'm going to challenge the highest echelons of the game, when they start to tire it exposes my team's fragile underbelly. As soon as the playoffs are over I'll be moving my gunners to LB, and 2 of my stronger(and more stupid) LBs to DL.

Still, happy to win. Well done to the Bobkats for putting up a great fight

The Dragons walked into a whirlwind last week. . . However it’s a question on Offence of how few mistakes the Passing game makes.

3 turnovers on my first 3 possessions of the 3rd quarter, leading to 10 Accies points.

Then a field goal miss that would have made it 12-10 to the Dragons.

Then. . . a fumble on the Accies 9 yard line, that lead to their TD in the 4th quarter.

Then . . . stopped at the goal line on the last play of the game, where we could have tied it up.

Fair enough. Name your Avatar.

There's absolutely no question that the Dragons were much better than the hapless Accies today - it was was a textbook definition of 'snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" ...

That being said, please could you find a picture of Johnny Wilkinson or his England shirt to sport for a week !!!

The Cats versus the Ravens was a classic today - who'd have thought that the Cats would power to a 24-7 Halftime lead, then get shut down and just overhauled in the second half

And the Hawks gave the Raiders a run for their money this week too...
