loving reading this thread keep up the good work.
Chatral the johnny wilkinson top is a forfeit I personally couldn't pay! I hope you (and me for that matter) get the last laugh on the 17th march with hopefully a grand slam decider against the french at the millenium! I have tickets for my first ever welsh 6 nations match on that day |

Having seen two NFL games at the new Wembley I still feel that the Millenium is a much better stadium (at the very least the food is hotter - I've had two cold burgers at Wembley, on two attempts). I like the pubs up the far end (the Castle end) of St Mary's Street myself. My favourite line from the old Arms Park was at a Wales-Scotland game when we were queuing to get in the toilet. A voice piped up somewhere in the crowd 'Eh lads, this one's English - piss in his pockets'. Ah, the joys of a friendly international rivalry! |

I've got Monday off work and my understanding wife is looking after the nipper in the morning so I can finish my beer-and-sports fueled weekend with a well deserved lie-in. |

The Cats are proving to be much more than a bulldozer offence, and this writer has to admit that he underestimated the quality of their passing attack. On paper they only have one really credible receiver – WR Sroka, who indeed has the most catches. But almost all the WR’s and TE’s make good contributions, QB Sang Schmidt is very effective and reliable, and his back-up Patrick Boggs is also solid when he comes on in relief. Their Running game is good as anybody’s left in the Cup, but as they fatally failed to score in the second half in last weeks big game, might a fully balanced or even slightly pass biased Offence be adopted in this semi-final? It’s a gamble if taken.....the Celtics have great CB’s. Defensively the Cats are great at LB and DB, but their DL are notable too: top of the Tackle count and forced fumbles galore as well. They will need to read the Celtics Offence correctly though (a tricky thing to do), and their ‘Megastar’ CB Thies Cardon must make more of a contribution than just the odd tackle – he has ALL the skills, but rarely makes a big play, and was a big disappointment in last weeks match-up against the Carmanator. Either on the ground or through the air the Celtics Offence are really difficult to stop. Sources tell me that the Offensive line are the key to their success, punching big holes for the RB’s to make serious yardage, or giving great protection for QB Tuqiri. Add to that 5 very good receivers, a tricky to guess gameplan, and difficult Formations to read, and this is an exciting unit to watch...... unless you happen to playing against them, where you’ve got to accept that they are almost certainly going to put at least 20 points on the board. Defensively the Celtics are almost as unforgiving, giving up very few points (and yes I’ve checked outside of the inept Accies!). As mentioned they have a great set of CB’s (don’t throw a flubber towards them), and an exceptional LB in Abraham Christeller, but the conundrum is that the rest of their LB’s and DL’s look solid, but not exactly game-breakers. So, is it right to run at them after all? The Call: The Cats came so close to upsetting Cup favourites the Ravens last week, but the Celtics should be slight favourites to edge this one, ‘slight’ being the operative word. Celtics by 3 N.I. Ravens @ BobKats The BobKats have a great no-name Offence - despite a semi-revolving door policy at QB, they pummel away at opposing Defences, and the fact that they keep on scoring is more impressive as it does seem that their OL is an attackable chink in their armour. The Kats have given up more sacks then they should have done, and the RB’s are prone to fumble – both of which hint towards a peneterable front five. On Defence though, the Kats have the best balanced set of LB’s and DB’s in the competition. They don’t rely on any one player too much, they all act as a unit and it’s hard to find an obvious weak spot. Facing the main man himself in this semi-final, they have 4 really good CB’s for the Dime formation, something you would expect to see a lot of.... The Carmanator has been picked off a couple of times recently (notably NOT by Cats CB Thies Cardon) but still put this in perspective: 6 Ints in over 1900 attempts, or 1 Interception every 320 throws! And the TD Count.... currently 114!! But lets not forget the RB’s – they have 91td’s between them, and that 'per carry' average: still over 6yds a go. I’ve deliberately not mentioned LB’s Boswell and Troutman before, it’s just too sickening to state that they have 23 Ints and 18 defensive scores between them. I keep looking for them on the Transfer Market, but it seems the Coach for some reason is unwilling to let them go (!). The Ravens also have 2 stellar CB’s in McDonnell and Tolliver and also a great Safety in Oisin Bell. Finally, it has to be mentioned what an incredible job they did last week against the Cats Offence – they quickly worked out how to nullify the opposing offence, and completely shut them down in the second half... impressive or terrifying, pick your adjective. The Call: The Kats are a VERY impressive side, but it’s just so difficult to bet against the Ravens. Ravens by 8 |
