Is there not something like this in hattrick? If anyone plays it maybe they could give details on what way they do it. I think as long as it is optional and provides some value to the players involved then it's a great idea

Just a small suggestion for the physical condition...how about doubling the values for youth team games? For example, if a player has PC of 40% for these games that is worth 80%

At hattrick there are two options to have youth players
1) a random generated player every saturday, based on the quality level of your youth program (depends on the spend money)
2) a youth team, filled with random generated players, which 1-3 scounts do find every saturday (3 scouts = highest quality level of option 1).
Each player has hidden skill values and hidden caps for every skill.
Training is done by playing.
Every week you get 2-4 hints for skills and/or caps.
You play by leagues, which are setup by managers and then are free to join.
Skills are equal to senior skills, but cap at level 7 (i think) and senior have up to 20!
The kids come to the club with age of 15 and have to leave with 19.

I think it would be too difficult to have enough people with enough youth to really do this.

How about this:

In -TOG-there is the world cup (I think that is what it is called) where players are chosen from teams to make up a roster of that country region to compete against other teams.

How about we have a "world youth cup" but instead of countries it is by the league you are in.

So, each team from the 1.1 dragons offers up two to three players that could be used and the person who volunteers from the dragons league to coach (maybe there would be an assistant coach with them?)chooses which players to use.

The players would have to be in a YA and not be able to leave while competing (if an owner wanted to bring up a player from the YA for their own team they would have to give an advance warning to the coach so they can replace that player). It would be a round robin with an elimination knockout. Doesn't need to be long, could in fact occur during the playoffs and off season.

But I want my own team.

Serious: What is the gain for that?

Uh...fun? lol

The original idea is unlikely to work and this seemed like a good solution for those who are interested in doing something with youth players. It would also create a league pride, to a degree. The youth participating could receive some small exp gain or something.

OK, fine.

But why do you think out of 300 managers, there wouldn't be enough teams to build a cup with 4-8 teams once or more in a season?

Perhaps the better question is, how many managers would have enough youth players to field a team?

This question wouldn't be valid if we fill up the rosters with "virtual" players, maybe really crappy ones. By this, the manager would be motivated to get a working youth team together, but wouldnt be forced to have one from the start

I don't like this at all. I think we have enough regular games a week with our senior team, and we don't need a new Young League to have more fun.
In Hattrick we have it because we play two matches a week, so when a manager has time enough, he can choose to do it. But the important thing in Hattrick is that, whether you use it or not, the players you can get from the Youth Academy are the same with both systems of managing your Academy.
If you implement this feature here so the manager who uses it could have youngsters with more experience than the one who doesn't use it (because of the games played), I think it's not fair.

I have almost a full level 4 youth academy after two seasons and this will be kept. I don't see a problem for long term managers.
