These two threads summed up the necessary skills for each offensive and defensive positions pretty well:

Position guide for offense skill positions

Physicals for defense players

It's on the 2nd page of Rookie Area.

Also you could spend some time (and money) on the draft board, and see for yourself which positions have a higher value in the preferred skills. With 96 draftees and a 2,5k scouting fee that's 240k to scout everyone. (altough keep in mind there is still some problems with footwork for these draftees, which will be corrected from the season 3 draft)

Do I have to sign a scout ? , can I fire him after I've scouted the draftees ??

You can fire him as you like

Doesn't give any details in the manual, but it seems that level 20 scout is $50k per week plus $95k signing bonus, and I'd get maximum 30 scout reports per week @ $2.5k each ??
and no compensation to be paid if/when I fire the scout ??

Exactly. There's a one time 95k fee for signing a level 20 scout, then there's a 50k wage every financial u p d a t e (so 2 times a week!!) and with him you could scout 30 draft players every financial u p d a t e for 2,5k each (so 60 players a week in total).

You could hire lower levels scouts as well for lower fees, but the higher level the scout, the more precise reports you will get.

Edit: As far as compensation goes, there is no new signing fee to go back to a level 1 scout. And the weekly wage drops back from 50k to 2,5k.

So having a scout only gives me more precise data, right?

Doesn't matter do I have scout or not in matter of possibility to check the player?

You have a level 1 scout by default. He'll be scouting the players for a 2,5k scouting fee, but these reports won't be too reliable imo. Without scouting you can only check the age, position, exp, and rating of the players.

nice

I've just been looking through my depth chart, I've got some players with good talent, I've got some intelligent players .... unfortunately, I don't really see the guy with both !
not to worry for now, I'll have to think of a Plan B
