Finally, the time has come when we feel that we can announce the new engine. It will be installed a week or two before the end of this season (for friendlies only) and used for all matches from season 11 onward. So why did it took so long for us to announce the engine and what changes will be incorporated into it? Well, we know it was frustrating for you all, but we felt that announcing something when it's still possible we won't have it ready by deadline (like it happened a few times before) was out of the question. And, we will continue to do things this way for all the major game updates from now on. And, we also owe you answers to some of the most often asked questions: Why didn't you at least post a screenshot(s), when you stated that you will do so (a long time ago)? Well, just a few days after the screenshot announcement, we scraped the original engine upgrade after we held a lengthy discussion about it. It just didn't cover all the aspects of gameplay and updates that we wanted to have in the new engine. We also agreed then to, well, "quietly" start work on another version that will have some major updates to live-text and formation editor tools as well. So to publish "new" screenshots back then, would be to publish something that will never see the light of day. And that was also the time that we decided that we will not make any more announcements about it, until we are 99,9% sure about what we are stating. But you could have at least told the community about this situation? As mentioned, we agreed to stop "feeding" the community info that we are not at least 99,9% sure about. We did respond multiple times that we are still working on the engine, and that we won't publish/release it until it is properly developed and tested. So can you tell a bit more, now that you are 99,9% sure about it? Yes, actually we are preparing a few news articles just about this subject. But in short, here are the important updates that will take place in v3 of the -TOG-engine: 1. Player traits will enter the game (more about this in a special news article soon) 2. Rushing implementation was scrapped from the old engine and rewritten for the new one. 3. Passing was improved. 4. Penalties introduced 5. Live text makeover 6. Formation editor makeover So, this is short version of the new things to come. Quite a few more "dothis and dothats" were upgraded or modified, and a few more things will still find it's way into the upgrade before this season is over. Also, we will intentionally leave a few things out of announcements and keep them as a surprise. More to come soon... |
