I really like the ProBowl suggestion (and the awards one as well)

I also think that the player selection will be arguable no matter how the players are chosen (stats, rating, manager votes...) so I'm not too fussed about that although I do think the CPU automatically selecting the players would have the advantage of not being biased.

I'm in favor of CPU picking, too ... that will give us a few more clues.

OK, just to understand it..

we create a new format, called ProBowl, one per league and season. The CPU is picking the best players by "whatever", is playing the game with automatic settings, and presents the result, all that without an managers influence. And after that, we celebrate a great victory and cool trophies for the participating players..

I got that right?

I don' think this much needed to improve the game, but I admit it would be cool to have.

In my opinion no game is necessary. Just s e l e c t the better players based on the statistic produce from playing in each league game during the course of the season.

We could have to come up with a formula to s e l e c t each individual player per position. Each Position would have to have its own formula.

Example:

OT
Blocks Made +1 point
Blocks Missed -1 point
Panckakes - +2 points

TE
0 to 5 Yards receptions +0.5 points
0 to 10 Yards receptions +1 point
0 to 20 Yards receptions +1.5 points
20+ Yard reception 3 points
Missed reception -1 point

I mean this is just examples without giving much of any thought to it, but it's an idea.

If we just award trophies, we can use the MVP points, most points per position win trophies...

I just try to understand what's the funny part on a fully automated game...

I wouldn't mind having a manager voted into Pro Bowl Manager position, as long as he does not s e l e c t the players (because of bias). If you see more purpose in human manager involvement, then why not go ahead with that idea.

This event would be ideally positioned after the end of the regular season, when most teams are a bit bored, because they aren't involved in Playoff action. A great add-on!

Well that is simple enough!

My opinion if we get to have the actual game it shound't be automated.

Managers should be the Manager of the AC Division team that got to the championship final and the NC team Manager that took his team to the exact same game in the previous season.

I would even suggest that the winner from that game would go on to give Home field advantage to the team that reaches the championship game from said division, just like the All Star game in Baseball. But beeing that the Championship game does not have home field advantage it is a mute point.

What if an automatically elected human manager has no intention to manage the Pro Bowl team?

Just don't manage the team then, let the team play with the default playbook. There should be no need to set the DC since it is a Pro Bowl team nobody will be out.

Also honestly why wouldn't you want to manage in the Pro Bowl? This is one of the best parts of the game is to manage a team on the field, and given the possibility to manage the best players in your division why would you not want to do that?

I wouldn't say no, I would gladly manage and would definately do my best to beat the rival division for bragging rights.

EDIT - RZA may also consider giving credits to the winning manager of that game. That can be used as a sort of boost to have the managers do the best they can.
