At first glance some of the ideas look good.
However, some teams will actually be worse off if they don't make the playoffs because they now only have 14 games instead of 15. This also means the Supercup season ends sooner for those teams and they have an even longer offseason. Then since 64 of the 128 teams lose the first playoff game they are not really any better off and not any worse off as compared to the current system. This means that 64 teams have one more game instead of the current 48 who make the playoffs. However, this could also be accomplished by expanding the number of teams making the playoffs in the current system to 64. As far as I understand it, the current setup where simply the teams with the best record make the playoffs is a result of forward planning. The winner of each division can make the playoffs now, but with future growth of more and more teams in RZA, the number of divsions could double or triple in number, and then there would be too many teams winning their division to fit in the time we have for the playoffs. One of the good suggestions might be the one allowing free friendly games on the Supercup playoff days for teams that don't make the playoffs. |

That's the main argument to stick with this "best of X" mode for determining the playoff participants. |
