Why even have a kr position outside of the depth chart?

That's a question I asked when the out of position penalty for playing as KR and G got deleted. Still waiting for the answer...

+1 KR and G should not have specific positions they should just be in the DC

The only problem I see with changing that now is that it would be unfair to anyone who hired a special teams assistant coach. They may have done so under the assumption that KR and G would stay as roster positions.

I don't see the problem, I have a ST AC and I could care less if the position is removed all together. The "No penalty" clause seems like an extremely weak compromise for this. If anything,
A) have ST AC influence whoever is assigned to a ST position from the depth chart during a game.
B) Differentiate between the importance of ST and offence and defense a little bit more. Like just having anyone on your team play kicker/punter is silly. These guys are specifically trained for years in real life just for that specific role.

Another note, Kick returner [and Punt Returner] are not segregated in American football. These positions are filled by players from other positions that excel in returning. Example, you will never hear of a "first round drafted kick returner" in real life.

/end rant

The "anyone rule" only applies to KR and G. K and P MUST be K or P. Only inbetween these 2 positions is there no out of position penalty, if you set anyone else as K/P in your DC then you get hit by it.

in regards to the first post. man i had to eat that too.. I had a player labeled as KR for over a season and a half and finally moved him to WR.. only it came with a penalty and on top of that his WR skills are trash since I havent trained him there.

live and learn my friend.

also. Return skills is better utilized as a special trait I think.. differentiate between the players that way.

Well the skill set for a kr is the same as rb, wr, and te with the main attribute different for wr and te....

I don't agree.

Speed and agility are for KR,WR, and RB important, but a KR need more Vision and RB and WR more positioning.

They are only "second" positions in real life anyway...
