Back to blind bids

My corrected suggestion (auction mechanism)

Everyone can place auction offer / maximum price he can invest in the player.
Offers can be place before the auction start (the same time as now / so 3 days from placing the player on market)
At the moment the time is over, auction is running based on placed offers.
Minimum bid is set based on actual price level. E.g. price between 1000- 10000 = min bid 100; 10001-50000= bid 500,.... and so on.
Auction mechanismus / sort the offers based on price, then based on the time.
There is a defined logic when considering offers within min bid interval. Considering offers starts from the lowest offer as auction does.
When two (or more) highest offers are within min. bid interval, wins the earlier one / not the higher one as system cannot take more money as the difference between offers is less then min bid.
When there two high offers, e.g. 200 000 vs 300 000, then the price payed for the player is second highest offer plus min bid, otherwise the highest price.
Advantage for early offer, when two offers are equal, wins the earlier one.
Advantage for late offers, you can see which managers placed their offers and accordingly adjust the offer or dont go for it :-)

It is up to Pete, who are preffered players, whether people having time to be online (it&students) or the rest.

im not student im not it im not a hang around and i dont feel have disadvantage

i proposed a similar one months ago and the more the game matures i think blind bidding is the wrong way.

I more and more consider the current to be fair and open enough to every one!

Teams do show they can compete high level with any single purchase

If i cant bid than its "faith" and even maybe sometimes helps from going bankrupt totally

Also disadvantage in blind bidding -> cant set priority!

When 2 players run out at same time and i am live: i can decide for which one i go. With blind bidding i could overspend for bid and win both and go into red very fast.

Also as proven last days, even earlier this morning: young teams was able to buy quality at bargain - with blind bidding me or other would be possible to counteract this.

True that the priority is a problem, still you can bid only amount you have in bank and it is your decision, which player you would like more and place more money, when bidding is over, you can place bid on the other one.
On the other hand, now you can bid on two players too and it can happen you'll be out of money too when noone bids more.

Sorry I can not support a ebay type of bid which is what you are talking about.

The current system needs to change - even if it is a small one allowing more flexibility regarding maximum bids.

Currently I frequently cannot place a competitive bid on a player because of the +50% limit.

Most players sell between 8pm and 11pm European time, or 4-6am European time (evening in the USA). I work 5-6 nights a week with no internet access, and then have to sleep to 8am to be ready for my day job.

I know I don't *need* more players to be successful, I just want a fair chance to sign them should one become available which nicely fits my team.

How would YOU change it so it is fair for those of us who do not have 24/7 internet access? Or would you just say tough sh*t?

I read what all you are doing and believe me im also a hard working one, over 40 guy and not a "school or university kid"

I want to speak for myself: if i cant take part on auction, then yes i say to mystel "tough sh*t"!

I was not available to wednesdays "sell-o-rama" - tough sh*t!

I dont think i will be available for tonights "sell-o-rama" - tough sh*t!

Sometimes i cannot be available - other times others - it equals out.

Please is not offense! I see it as game and i think current system provides at least a relative cheat-free enviroment and when im available or others a interesting bid enviroment.

But at end of day its a game and i prefer for me to have a system with lot of fun (bid wars) when i am able to be present.

You're talking occasional nights when you might not be available.

I'm talking 5-6 nights a week. It keeps happening. Not just some of the time - the vast majority of the time - that is a big difference.

So far only ONE draft pick player has been listed to sell during the afternoon, and I bought him, probably paid too much, but I wasn't missing that one chance.

you can have 2 option when you set your player on the transfer list
1: like it is now and all know have it work
2: you set your player on the list for 5 days (no dead end) and when the first player bid on that player then we have a dead end and we go to the rule 1:

#to explain no:2 i set my player on the transfer list now 14:40:26 and if no one bid next 5 days he go back to my team, if some one bid on my player after 30 hours then the dead line will be 20:40.26 + 3 days

but i personal do not like to change any thing

The only problem with the attitude that if you can't be there for it then TS, or with the original argument that the earliest bid get an advantage is that imho the point of the game is to be the best manager; not the manager that can be on first, at the right time, or the most. any system that harms an individual for having other responsibilities hurts the competition. I do think that a silent auction type, or maybe I'm using the wrong phrase, but a system where mangers don't know what everyone else has bid could add a ton of strategy to the game. it would be great managers were forced to value the player as they relate to their teams rather then to how they rate to the next guy. it would also be good because it would reward managers that actually do their homework, instead of just waiting until a guy gets bid up high before doing any scouting on him.

Virtually all online games favor people who can be on them more than those who cannot. I cannot, in fact, think of one that doesn't.

That being said, I could support a blind bidding system if it was PART of the current system.

Say, there is player A who is a draftee type player. I would be ok if everyone had the opportunity to place a one time bid max bid. However, each player is still able to be bid on as it is now until the deadline or further, as it is now. In this way the people who can't be online at least have the chance the place a high bid. The people who are online then have the chance to try and outbid that blind bid max if needed. The only thing is, the blind bids have to be limited to funds on hand so that someone can't have 50 million in their account and then place multiple max 50 million blind bids.
