I few weeks ago I drafted a way for us, i felt, to better use our non-football personnel staff. Non-Football Staff It got horrible reviews as the single star shows but I didnt think I was headed in the wrong direction.

I think every manager here agrees that there time invested in this game should be worth some reward (and not just in TM ) I think we should gather some ideas on finding more efficient ways for getting information on your opponent.

As of today I'm not sure how much time each manager spends looking at what his opponents roster is or what their playing style is but to say organizations in real life spend time on this is equal to saying high school kids text msg a lot or my boss is one angry dude.

so what I want to know is if anybody has any thoughts on how we can make scouting opponents a bigger and more influential part of the game (hopefully w/o it being TOO complicated)?

I want to spend time scouting my opponents but every time I have it has backfired in a bad way on me. There are several reasons for this:

1. I still have questions about the effectiveness of d formation vs o formations. It is too early to really know if a 5-3 is really the best vs big I when the passing game isn't established yet. So sometimes I've tried other formations with not good results.

I'm sure many have some issue in choosing formations predictably.

2. Teams have incomplete rosters right now in terms of having a roster full of starter material. So it is difficult to plan a game when you have players who you would think aren't a factor end up becoming one.

3. For the most part people run, run, run. So the scouting would pretty much say that. Scouting the particular rushers hasn't given me any more information. How would I game plan the fast rb vs the slow but strong rb? Do you even need to game plan for a fast and strong rb? I suppose you can scout the oline, but you don't have access to the depth charts of the opponent.

I think in time once people have the roster makeup they are looking for then scouting will be even more helpful. I would like to be able to use them more than we do.

Ok Husker... for one that was a funny shot.. but dont baseball up my post. I abhor that sport.

Sfniner.. I hear ya. as of now it seems kinda futile in the short run. this is more of a long term goal but one I feel with huge payoffs as far as differentiating itself from other games.

How about this idea. Whenever your team has gone up against a player that player's stats TO THE POINT OF THAT GAME are known to your team. So the second after you play a game against an opponent all the players stats on his team are known to you as of the date of that game. When you play him next.. if you look on his team's roster it will show the individual player's stats as they were on the date you last played against him and any new additions to the team would of course be unknown.

Scouting my opponents is for me:

- analyze their last games
- with formations do they prefere
- have a look at their teams stats, there can I see which players are productive.

But for what would it be good to know the skills of the opponent players? I see no way to use such informations for a game tactic.

The only thing i would be good for, is that you know how other managers train their players. But I don't want, that other managers know how I train my players. If they want to know this, they have enough scout reports.

Maybe I missunderstand the suggestion and don't get the real intention of this suggestion.

lol.. I like the secrecy but if you think about it... wouldnt you know how good players were after your team played against them? Whether how deep a manager looks into those figures to understand your training method is neither here nor there... the end product they WILL know from their guys going up against your guys on the field. If you dont want another manager to get a beat on how you prepare your guys.. i mean buffalo there's a girth of ways in this game to to not play the same game you did before.

This idea just stems from there should be no reason to have to send a scout and pay 2500 per player to see the skills of a player you have played before. Its just counter-intuiative.
