a bit harsh considering how well they started this season before they had a load of injuries on offense, their defence looks sick and on the whole better than the jets, if the team stays healthy i wouldnt be surprised to see them make the playoffs as a wildcard

Think the problem is their QB... I like Fitzpatrick since his first NFL appearance for the Rams back in ???. I watched that game in the middle of the night, he was a Ivy League third stringer and played impressive. But SB-material? I doubt it.

There is the punishment for the bounty rule of the Saints.

- New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton will be suspended for one season without pay for his involvement in the team's bounty program

- Saints general manager Mickey Loomis has been suspended for eight games.

- Former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has been suspended indefinitely.

Saints just got cut off at the knees. To go along with Payton out for a year without pay and Loomis for 8 games without pay, they also lose the 2nd round picks for the next 2 seasons. Fined 500k. Greg Williams who is (or rather was) with the rams is out indefinitely.

With the policy of NFL the last years this was what i expected from them.

Hard but i think right, if they count out Harrison last year out for a game for hitting a runner they have to be so hard to a organisation witch pays money for hurting players on purpose !

He loses $7.5M for the year. Ouch!

They are also looking into the players who were involved in Bounty-gate. I can see some players with a few games of suspension coming there way.

Well ....
I like the punishment, but it is not far enough!
Williams did this program in a lot of programs.
Those go unpunished, even when they tolarated it.
That's not fair.

Williams out of NFL for this? Good.
I'm currious, if he will land a college job now.

loosing a 2 rounder for two years is very mild in my eyes.
They should have taken the 1. rounders, too.

And they should deal with this matter in general.
Nobody can tell me, that this kind of "shoot him out of the game" mentality is not common in the NFL.

In the 2012 draft the saints have no 1st round pick. this was traded to the Patriots, who has 2 late first round picks this year. So in 2012 the first pick for the Saints is in round 3.

I donĀ“t know if they have also trade their 2013 first round pick.

Of course it does.
And it does according the rules of the CBA, so signing bonus is slit over contract length, roster bonus counts for that specific year, yearly wage counts for the specific year and so on.

I would love to get a signing bonus on my job ....
