One of my draftees has really good speed and high intelligence, so I've put him at Free Safety. However, I've noticed in five games, he's only made one tackle.

Am I wasting one of my better players by playing him at FS....should I consider moving him to LB or something else?

If this player is better in LB position, than some of your LB's then move him. You can move him back later (with penalty, but it's not so hard in my opinion)

Measuring FS and CB by number of tackles is not ideal... as it doesn't take into account one of their key roles.

If they are getting 0 tackles, is it because your opponent is not completing many passes? And if that is the case, maybe it is because their receivers are being too well covered?

If you have good LB and DL and they can mostly stop the running game fast, there should be also less tackles by your Safeties.

With not so good DL and LB like I have at the moment because I have a rookie team, your safeties often have also to stop the running game.

I realize that they maybe true in real football. I'm just not sure how much that's true in RZA. I mean, how often is a FS in coverage? Is it only in deeper passes? And if a player breaks through the defensive line and linebackers, does the Free Safety get a final crack at him before he runs the field for a long TD?

Plus I don't see DBs picking off a lot of passes....maybe because of a lot of short passing?? But anyway, it makes me wonder how often they are really in coverage. Seems like my MLB gets most of my interceptions.

Personally, I think you should either fire him or sell him before we meet up in our first match-up this season. He really is just costing you lots and lots of money for just one tackle per game. If you really must keep him, move him to your bench when you play against those big, fat Hippos so that he won't get hurt.

IMO if your SF doesn't have much to do then your other defensive positions are doing one hell of a great job. But it's still a good idea to keep a backup plan just in case, i.e. your SF to tackle anyone who breaks through your defense. Not a waste to keep him there IMO.

Or just do what bellj said...
