What does indeed suck is the issue of a team going bot, especially after the halfway point of the season when they have beaten a good team early on as a human and then become softer than butter on 95 degree day a few weeks later. If affects whole divisions or even conferences. Many view it as unfair, while some just say that is part of how our system works.

I do have a suggestion, and I don't know if this is possible for Peter to do.

If a team goes bot after the halfway point of the season, would it be possible to have that team run on the same settings with the same players as the previous owner had set as the default settings? That would continue until one of 2 things happened, season rollover or a person picks that team up.

This way the impact of the team going bot is lessened in how it affects the teams they play.

Problem: I think the Team was the Berlin Packers, the manager sold most of his player after he desided to quit playing. So he played the first games 100% sold the players and quit, if the Team played on the Settings the old Manager made it is still a lot weaker then bevor...

Don´t see al solution..

I'm not speaking about a specific team, and if I were it would be in Dragons 1.1 where 3 teams went bot in the season that will have major impact on the playoffs.

Even with your specific case, that is how the manager left it and if he stayed they would end up playing like a bot anyway. I don't think that is common for someone to sell off all their players then go bot. I mean, why sell them and then be gone for so long? That is just weird.

It is weird. But it does happen although quite rarely. In your own Division, Tossa Pirates/Hasta Luego Lucas did a very similar thing ...at the very start of this season, that team was on fire, but then he sold 6 Draft players for $245 million, spent not a single cent of the money, played for a few games with a team that had been castrated (self-castrated, I might add) and then he went Bot.

I'm not a psychiatrist so I don't know the motives/rationale behind why that happens, but I can clearly see the damage it caused, namely :- you could have met that team in 3 modes (a) start of season - very strong
(b) mid-season - good team,but not outstanding (c) Bot - enough said.

In some ways, I like Sfniner's idea of running on some sort of "autopilot" to ensure competitive fairness, but I think it would have to be thought through to ensure there are no unexpected side-results.
I also think it might work quite well in the 1.1 divisions , but in some of the 2.1/2.2's where teams seem to be forever going bot then re-forming it may be chaotic. Nice lateral thinking though, and worth some discussion I would've thought.

Sfniner you missunderstood my post, i think you are right on your first posting. I just wanted to show that is dificult to do it on a fair base to the rest on the Teams. For example how to handel such Teams sh8888 and myself shown up. Or how to handel the teams in the 2 Division where Teams come and go a lot.
To have something to regular that "going bot" Teams would be nice i just don´t see how to handel this.

Well, I understand the point niner highlights here, but I don't think this would help to make it more 'fair'.
So what would be the difference between a team went bot and a team which is picked up by a new manager during the season?

Let's say there is a team with an overall rating of 50 going bot in the middle of the season.

Scenario A) it stays a bot team and the rating will be dropped to maybe around 34
Scenario B) the team will be picked up by a new manager immediately and the rating will drop to around 34 too

So in both cases the teams which haven't played against this team are lucky, the others are unlucky.
Changing the way of how a bot team will perform would just change the point in time in my opinion.
Additionally there is the problem mentioned already when the previous manager sold all (or even just some) players.

I don't know if it is possible for Peter to arrange it to be for 1.1 only and no one could pick up a 1.1 team after the halfway point to solve those possible issues?

Sorry TJ, I did misunderstand.

I just wish there was a way to make this less impactful on the playoffs as it affects income and competitiveness of other teams.

There are so many different things to take into account...however.

Some of them

1. Today, if a team goes bot, we replace the whole user-team connection in the database, due security reasons, due cleanup the database, and last but not least due privacy issues. A change might result in a violation of laws.

2. Nobody knows which game settings the engine should take into account, which DC, which Playbook.

IMO, it is more important, more healthy, for the game to get rid of bots ASAP. This is exactly why we are replacing the roster and game settings completely.

I understand the point made, but I see no real solution
