Any thoughts on breaking the draft into separate days - 1 per round.

When doing your draft board - you obviously pick out the guys you really want in the top 10-20 and in likelihood - the guys you don't want in the bottom 20.

I find the middle becomes very congested and you end up shoving players who are OK in the middle. I'd like the chance to review my board after round 1 to revaluate the middle guys bearing in mind who I've picked and who is gone.

Also thoughts on having some busts in the draft - seems like every draft pick is a good player. Maybe have a 4th round and add 32 not great draft options. Maybe also buff the top of the draft as well and make the top 10 the glamour picks. The 4th round would allow trading possibilities - trade away your 4th to move up in the 1st.

Sorry if these have been suggested before - maybe we need a commonly asked for thread as well.

The issue is the time. The draft starts on thursday, an is not possible to run earlier. The league starts saturday. This means there is not enough time without changing the length of the offseason

There were some discussions before:

Having a draft more unbalanced

Draft, like today, but resort possibility

Resorting the draftboard after the first round would give more active (=good teams) an advantage. It is up to you to sort your draft board in the way, that you will have the best possible outcome for your team.

How do you define a draft bust? Is a drafted RB with capped Speed at 41 a bust?

Why do you want to draft worse players in a 4th round? Trading draft picks would be to complicated, because of evaluation issues.

Is there no way this could be looked at ?

The draft is a big selling point of the game - everyone loves the NFL draft but at thew moment it all seems a bit 'that'll do I'll whack him in the middle somewhere which wastes it a little.

Maybe split it between thursday and friday then at least you could have Round 1 separate and then a Day 2. Would that work ?

Or even run it through the offseason in general - ie the last three saturdays of the season but you don't get the players you draft till the season turnover. That would be ideal for a couple of reasons - one if you aren't in the play-offs will make the offseason more interesting and second it'll give you a week to sort out your board for the next round. Would that work ?

If it happens before the final rollover, contract teams would have an issue because draftees sign only an initial contract for the actual season during the draft. So stretching the draft to the time before the rollover is not an option due the needed changes on the contract side.

Having 2 separate rounds on one day would result in chaos imo, since the managers are located around the world, in many different timezones. So if we split the draft, we would have to rely on one round per day to keep it fair.

I am not against a 3 days draft, don't get me wrong. It is just an issue of too much work, and too less time between draft and season start

Ta. Second link doesn't work.

I'll check out the first thread properly later as the original post was along my line of thinking in that players seemed too balanced.

By the 2 day draft. I meant you do 1 round on thursday and then the 2nd and 3rd rounds go together (like currently all 3 rounds go together). Not that you do round 2 in the morning and round 3 in the evening as like you say timezones would cause chaos.

Re - your first point - could you just not give draft picks 2 year contracts so it becomes 1 year at the season rollover. Just set it so they don't get paid until the rollover.

Doesn't sound unviable for what would imo be a big improvement but obviously I don't know the database layout so if it can't be done relatively easily then fair enough.

Damn, normally I am the guy coming up with quick and dirty ideas like the 2 ys contract - this time I missed my opportunity

Let's see if anyone else is adding his opinion on this.

By using this one we could run the draft on "Monday, Wednesday and Friday" before the first league game.
