I recommend you postpone any further stadium building until about a week before Season 4 starts.

Why?

Because you won't be using those seats until the new season (your stadium is too small to host friendlies), and you have to pay maintenance on those seats once they are built. So the smart plan, imo, is to save you cash, schedule lots of free friendlies (as you are doing!) and build just before the next season.

Good Luck!

This may be a complete bug, but I am going to mention it anyway because I found it by complete accident.

While this is sound advice; as a new player I have found out that if I have construction going on during the financial updates on all 4 areas of my stadium I have 0 stadium maintenance so you can do construction and get away with it. Unless this is a bug that I am not aware about.

That is true, you will have 0 stadium maintanence during those 4-5 days of construction, since all 4 of your sides are closed off for the time being. This also means 0 seats for your home games, so no income from tickets while your stadium isn't finished. After the construction is done you'll get the maintanence costs rolling in again.

But this does raise me an eyebrow if there can be such an exploit where by building minimum seats on each side can skip managers the maintanence fees.
Especially since it's the offseason for more and more teams, doing an away friendly in a fully built stadium and building minimum allowed seats in your own can save you a nice sum...

Peter?

If you read the news you'll see that this has been amended slightly already.

"A manager won't be able to build less than 100 seats or 10 executive seats or 1 VIP per construction session, as long as we are not talking about the very last construction cycle to create a full built stand.

It will become active after season 3 is over!"

Also, there are disadvantages .... if you've got a fan shop you'll probably not be selling much merchandise whilst your stadium is shut.
It's something that most smaller teams can do (for a short time), but I'm not convinced it's that big a deal .........

Fanshop doesn't sell when the stadium is closed? You mean the plus sales on matches or altogether, including the sales at 1:00 server update? Since it's an offseason friendly game sales won't matter anyway...

I've read the new rule, but building 100/10/1 on all 4 sides costs 26.800 per construction. So basically anything between a 7000/700/70 stadium with a maintanence fee of 28k and a maxed out stadium with a fee of 520k saves you money. And having 26.8k construction fees compared to i.e. 400k maintanence fees is quite the bargain.

But of course, if there's no fanshop selling going on AT ALL during a full construction then hit me or something

The wording in the manual is unclear , but here is an old forum reply from Pete to a question that I asked, this implies to me that if your stadium is shut you'll get no fan shop sales, but maybe Pete can clarify ?

"Peter, please could Admin confirm the factors that do/do not affect your fan shop sales?

PR guy, stadium size, pricing for the goods...and of course the seats in your stadium..."

Stadium and Fanshop opening hours are not connected to each other!
