Apart from a better level of competition and less bot teams, what advantages does playing in 1.1 bring as opposed to 2.1/2.2?

I think it is only more competition and gaining personal experience faster. There are no financial benefits.

Blergh. If i make one of the relegation/advancement games i might just set match preparation to relaxed in order to lose on purpose. I don't have a team good enough for 1.1 , the morale drop will be huge after a lot of consecutive losses.
