Sorry if this has been covered already, but i was just curious with D-Line stats. I understand that a DT should be strong and it makes sense that footwork and such are high, but when it comes to DE's is strength as important? For example if have a new draft player who has 37 strength capped, but 40.5 speed uncapped. While yes, i could moved him to CB or LB, he has the trait to scare QB's when rushing, and i need to improve my D-Line. My question is, will the high speed compensate for the lower strength? assuming footwork, agility etc are high as well, or will be

They way passing works here I wouldn’t move him to CB. Assuming you are in lower league put him where you are weakest overall. [DL or LB] Your post is one of my biggest complaints with RZA. Players should be what they are. The ability to move a DL and make him a QB or CB is just silly. You can do it in high school ball, but it VERY RARELY works in any other situation.

Example DB and WR have very similar abilities. Fast, good vision. However, if you can’t catch or have alligator arms across the middle. Well, welcome to defense young man.

A reporter once asked assist coach at Army Vince Lombardi how he decided a player was a DL or OL. Simple he replied. I take the kid in a room and slap him upside the head. The ones that don’t mind are offensive linemen, the ones that hit back are defensive linemen!

I prefer DE's to have 40+ strength, and I'm considering selling a Fearsome DE once he caps at 41 since he's the weakest DE I have. However, I have other Fearsome players moving into the position. All of my DE's seem to break through the line a lot, but I don't know if it's from Speed, Strength, or skills.

I'd keep him at DE, especially if you don't have many options at that position. See if his speed helps him enough to pressure the QB and make Fearsome work. Also, as CCILL said, CB's aren't too important yet, at least not in the lower divisions.

On the contrary, moving players around to get their best play is one of the best parts of this game. Makes the game more interesting.

To Detroit,
So does a fast player who is a DT now become a great WR because he was sold and the new owner makes him a WR? That makes absolutely no sense at all. William “The Fridge” Perry was a great decoy at goal line FB for the Bears. Of course, he blew out his knee because he didn’t know how to protect himself running with the ball. Cost and reward I suppose!

Group the players if anything, OL and DL allow switch, QB FB and RB, WR and CB,FS, that sort of thing.

he should be fine at DE...although I too prefer them over 40 in str.
If not move him to OLB

You are right - it won't work in RZA, anymore than in RL: only a poor manager would move a player with the basic set of skills a DT has (Strength, Footwork, Tackling, Vision) to WR (Speed, Position, Catching).

Oops...I guess that be me.

Anyway, through college a lot of guys switch positions (but within certain bracketed positions). In general, there are certain body sizes and types in football. Realistically, a 330 lb. NT or OT isn't going to have max speed. And a 205 lb. DB isn't going to have max strength. In general, no football players have max intelligence. :-)

Well - I should elaborate..

A DT with 42Str, 24Tackle, 20Vision and20FOotwork would make a horrible WR because his Speed/Position/Catch would likely be something like 28/12/12. It would take a very long time to train those skills to be useful as a WR.

Now - if you're talking about a DT with 35Str/14Tackle/12Vis/12/Footwork....then, yeah...moving him to another position is not a big deal, he's likely to have something like 30Speed/12Position/12Catch.

In the first instance you losing a functional DT for a trainee WR. Ouch!
In the second instance he's going from trainee DT to trainee WR. Meh.
