brilliant
Now imagine you have replacement for that reitree. And no, he's no future HOFer. You wanna sell retirees, meaning getting rid of them. And cant if there is no buyer. So, after that friday you have to stick with a guy you initially wanted to get rid of, ... for what reason? |

The idea behind that was initially to allow the selling of the retiring players, which was not allowed in the past, if I remember correctly.
Then Peter did put in the barrier, but that did cause some outrage and problems, so the 'can't fire'-barrier was lifted again. Honestly I'm not sure whether there is still a rule behind that functionality written in the mail. For sure you can fire retiring players during the season now (as it was in the past). |

I do not know NFL/RZA rule.
Can anyone explain me this? 3:32 3 and goal to go on opp 2, Jannis Zanni (OC) snaps the ball to Damion Burchfield (QB), who hands off to Detlef Hartmann (HB/C), this seems to be a run over the right tackle, Zachary Tessier (DT/R) brings Detlef Hartmann (HB/C) down, nice tackle, forward progress: no gain (Singleback Big vs. 5-3-3) more 3:02 Gerardo Monti (K) kicks the ball for the field goal, 19 yard field goal missed 3:02 1 and 10 to go on own 20, Darryl Purdy (OC) snaps the ball to Takashi Okui (QB), Takashi Okui (QB) selected Shemuel Ngahu (WR/R) as target, the receiver of this outer screen right pass catches the ball, Shemuel Ngahu (WR/R) tackled by Gino Streifeler (CB/L), forward progress: 9 yards (I-formation vs. 3-3-5) more In the new drive offense started from his own 20 (like a touchback happened) instead from his own 2 as I expected. Am I wrong? |

The usual rule in real life is that if the ball crosses the goal line it is a touchback.
In the NFL, it applies only if the FG is kicked from inside the red zone. Last edited on 2020-01-11 20:58:55 by Kanar |

Even if it wasn't inside the 20, the change of possession on a missed field goal is from the place of kick which is typically 7 yards behind the line of scrimmage. The rule is whichever is a better spot for the new offense, the 20 or the spot of the missed kick, not the line of scrimmage. In your example it's the 9 or the 20, they would choose the 20. Even if it wasn't inside the 20, the change of possession on a missed field goal is from the place of kick which is typically 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage with the kicker back another 7. The rule is whichever is a better spot for the new offense, the 20 or the spot of the missed kick, not the line of scrimmage. In your example it's the 12 or the 20, they would choose the 20. I'm afraid Rufio mixed up the yards in places. The ball is snapped 7 yards back, not 10. And the kicker starts two steps back from where the ball is going to be snapped to. In your example the ball is snapped from the 2 to the 9, where it is kicked from. It is a 19 yard fg attempt because the goal posts are on the back line of the end zone, and the end zone is 10 yards deep. So, 2+7 (snap) +10 (end zone) gets your 19 yard attempt. Rufio is correct on the rule, but it would be from the 9 or the 20, not the 12. |
