Hi Folks.

National lockdowns aren't welcome, but on the positive side it did lead me on a meandering online journey to find some distractions which led me here to RZA.

1 week in, and hooked (to RZA; touchdowns not lockdowns please!). So thanks to the developer and the existing community content (f.e. Jack's excellent guide is invaluable in trying to get a handle on things given the complexity of the game).

Apologies if this is dumb:

If you do not have the HR department on, are all players on your roster automatically signed at the end of each season for next season, or is there a mechanism where a binary selection is made?

[and yes I have understood the medium/long-term value of switching to HR department, but in season 1 makes little sense when funds all being funneled to stadium development and existing players are basically amateurs.]

I hope you will enjoy RZA.

If you do not have the HR department on, all players on your roster will be automatically signed at the end of each season for next season during the rollover phase.
They wages will rise based to the average value of their two best trainable skills (SPE and STR are not taken in account for this purpose)

you can cut players any time without economical penalty.

The disadvantage is you will pay a little bit more.

In the beginning in my opinion it is better play without HR (the wages are low) and have the possibility to cut players and build the roster with more flexibility.

Thanks - and this answers my supplementary question re: firing - in HR case penalty well explained, couldn't explicitly see this specifically stated in the manual. No HR dept necessary for me at the moment then .

Next noob query that I failed to find via searching regards the subject of player traits.

For a trait like:

Stone Wall: This player is simply hard to move. Stone wall gives a 5% bonus to not being beaten by the D-Line, but it lowers the players speed by 5%

In the manual it lists this as being applicable to OL players where the trade off of the bonus obviously outways the 'penalty'.

It is obvious that if a player is assigned to any other position, the 5% bonus isn't applicable, but does the 5% speed penalty still apply? I would assume not, but wan't to make sure that I am interpreting correctly.

So would I.
I think a trait is applied as a whole.
So if the player is not an OL he has not the trait active so no bonus no penalty.

Next noob Q from me.

Is it possible for RB's to catch passes in RZA?

As new only played a relative handful of games thus far, but not seen happen yet.

Supplementary if the answer is yes: Does the match engine perhaps limit it to only being possible from certain O-formations?

If I am not wrong,RB can catch from flexbone and wishbone formations only. It is random and you can not trigger a pass to RB In the PB.

In my database I can find flexbone, wishbone and Proset
Pass direction outer / outer screen (left / right)
Only HB. I cannot find a catch by a FB.
