He will request what he would earn when you would pay him by skills in that season. So yes: There will be a jump. But you will save money before and after that season.

Is there any point to this mode ?

All it seems to do is to reward people who are prepared to put in the hours to do menial tasks. Does it add anything enjoyable to the game ?

Why not have it automated so the computer auto offers 2 year contracts to all your players when their deals run out (or 1 year for those aged 29).

You can offer franchise contracts to the players you want so you keep the strategy element of the mode in place but lose the boring element of it.

Well, this game is largely a management game and this mode adds plenty to the management side. You can manage your player salaries so that they will save you some money, and it will be even more helpful when your player skills really start to go up.

It is fun trying to negotiate their salary.

You could negotiate all of the salaries on a team in less than an hour, probably around 45 minutes.

How about an option where you can have the HR automatically offer a random 105%-110% of the Player's salary demands? (Random to hide the formula a little)

It would cost a lot more than doing it manually, but it save the time and effort for those with "better" things to do. (Better than a Game? )

"Is there any point to this mode ?" if anybody thinks the answer is No then stay in Wage Mode ...simple as that really.

By any point.

I don't mean in terms of saving money - that much is clear its advantagous.

I mean in terms of gameplay. Does anyone actually enjoy going through and doing the contracts. I've not set it so it may not be that much hassle after all - might be quite fun when it comes down to it I don't know. But it doesn't sound it.

If its not enjoyable (and again note the if) then its a shocker of a feature because rewarding people for carrying out boring menial tasks is the very last thing that should be in an online game that people play for fun.

Its not a hassle at all. It takes less than an hour per season and compared to the amount of time people are using anyway, its really nothing. I want to do it, because if you do it good it will give you an advantage.

To me it is a management option in a management game, it makes perfect sense, and you have the option not to do it if thats what you want. Some people spents extra time on tactics others like me do it on finances, its all part of the game. For instance I would like to be able to set ticket prices as well. I like that the game has many aspects people can choose to focus on. It opens many roads to success

Is it fun ? No

Is it enjoyable ? No ...it's actually a bit nerve-wracking ....if you screw it up (I've done so) then one of your good players is leaving the team

I'd liken it to Scouting the Draft Board ... i.e. it's Tedious, it's not something to look forward to ....but I do it because for a small-ish amount of effort, the rewards medium to long-term might be pretty big.

I also don't really like any suggestions of "auto-pilot" or "semi-autopilot" in games such as RZA, I think there should always be a default option (like default training for a whole team ...for example), but I think that managers who go the extra mile should be rewarded in some way ...I see Wage Mode as 'default' i.e. it works fine, I see contract mode as a possible reward for going the extra mile and putting some work in.

Yes for me

Imagine my face when I wrote that stuff, and started the first negotiation afterwards. I was quite surprised about these "suckers", pulling the last dollar out of my pocket.

I enjoy it every-time, even I know all about the math details behind.
