Until there were 5 minutes left in the game the Bears had less than 100 yards of total offense! The reason they even scored at all and crossed the 100 yard mark was because of a bogus penalty that extended that drive.

In the niners last 5 wins they have outscored their opponents 148-19! That is about 29 to 4 a game.

I have watched the 49ers a couple of times this season and I must admit that I have been very impressed with them. I think the other game may have been the Packers in week 2. The side who have impressed me the most this season though are the Texans

The 49-ers aren't quite the real deal that the TV pundits seem to imply. Having said that, I've never been impressed with Jon Gruden's punditry ..... he's too prone to hyperbole and hubris, and he seems to see things in a very simplistic (almost black & white, in some respects) context.

To me, the 49'ers main problem is that they're a team who are specifically constructed to play the game whilst leading. If the 49'ers are losing late in the game, where are the quick points coming from ? I still don't rate the 49'ers WR collection of assorted mongrels and misfits ...... players such as Manningham and Kyle Williams aren't to be relied upon, Moss is well past his best and a legend only in his own lunchtime, and as for Crabtree ... there are no suitable words in the English language to describe the enigma that is Mikeeee.

Vernon Davis is a real talent, but he never performs to his full ability .... difficult to tell if this is down to the inadequacies in Davis' own head or whether it's down to the fact that the 49'ers don't utilise Davis correctly.

At the beginning of the season, it looked like the road to the SuperBowl went via Candlestick .... but now I'm thinking that the road to the SuperBowl goes via the Georgia Dome ..... a worrying proposition as the Falcons have a potent twin-threat (White/Jones), if it comes down to a shoot-out against the Falcons, I just wonder if the 49'ers convoluted Offense may be out-gunned.

What makes the Niners a difficult team to face is that Harbaugh throws so many new wrinkles in each week. It is difficult to plan for them.

The road to the superbowl will go through the team that is hottest at playoff time. Example: Giants.

The game against St Louis was disappointing though. I wonder if they looked past the Rams?

The Defense outside of a few games has been just dominate of late.

Im not convinced by the 49ers. It was a fine display and result against the Bears last night, theres no doubt - but at other times they have flattered to deceive - they were very lucky against the Rams for example and i cant forget how the Vikings and the Giants manhandled them also.

That said, they should be a lock for the postseason, but i will be interested to see how they fare against the revitalised Saints and the Patriots also - their schedule bar those games is pretty soft although @ the Seahawks will be no pushover - but i just think they will be found out in the playoffs - Atlanta, New Orleans, Green Bay i think can all outscore them and teams like the Giants could battle past them also. I can see a postseason one and out for the Niners - they just arent there yet IMO.

Didn't they beat GB in GB already?

We can sit here and go through each team where they have flattered to decieve this season. I watched the Saints v Eagles the other week and the Eagles lost it more than the Saints won it. GB were average against Detroit and SF. Houston were owned by GB. I think the difference between the Saints, GB and the Falcons is that you can't blow them out of a game because they can all score very quickly on you and suddenly its game on again. SF don't seem to possess that threat right now but they are a very impressive side and I wouldn't be surprised if they lined up against the Texans come the big dance.
