Registration is now active for FF 2012 over at nfl.com.
I'm going to run 2 leagues, primarily intended for managers from RZA , although if there isn't enough interest to fill the league(s) from RZA, I'll fill the leagues with managers from elsewhere. It's free to register at nfl.com, free to play, all you need is a valid E-mail address. The format of the leagues will be :- (1) Re-draft League (i.e 'normal' league) - probably will be 12 teams, standard scoring, might contain some IDP players (not sure yet). See below for Draft date/time (2) Dynasty League - will be 16 teams, standard scoring. Roster format will be fairly standard. You don't necessarily need to have played Fantasy Football before to participate in a Dynasty League, but you need to be aware that it is a 'long-term format' (in reality, it probably never ends), therefore you need to be committed to playing for many seasons, if you quit after a few months it tends to ruin the game. Therefore please only apply for the Dynasty League if you're in it for the long-haul. Planned Draft dates/times are as follows :- Re-draft league - Saturday 25th August 2012 @ 19:00 UK time Dynasty league - Sunday 26th August 2012 @ 19:00 UK time I think this means the following worldwide times :- 2000 - Germany 1900 - UK 1400 - US East Coast 1100 - US West Coast If you are interested in either league please let me know, it will be first come first served, if you have any questions or require further info please post here. il be running the 3rd annual FF league over at TOG will post over there soon for applicants and sort that out but im up for joining 1 that you run as well
 was in 6 leagues last season on nfl.com but got screwed by injuries after going at least 5-1 in all leagues through the 1st 6 weeks |

i would be interested in either/or....would love to join a dynasty league but as said, only if the other managers are committed and will continually play win or lose.

The Re-Draft league will almost certainly be IDP. However, because this Dynasty is a Year One start-up, it would probably be too big a Draft with IDP players ..... it might make more sense to go with a Team Defense initially, the Team Defense could possibly be replaced by IDP from Season 2 onwards. |

In that case, i will almost certainly join the Re-Draft League. 
What would be the Dynasty roster size? 40? With 30 sec/choice limit the draft would run over less than 320 minutes. That's not much time, if we consider that we founding a Dynasty.

Im not sure if length of draft choice is a variable, but i know you usually have 90 seconds to make your selection - which would treble your length of draft!

The Dynasty roster size would probably be less than 40 .... but the actual number will be a balance between the starting positions + bench , but taken into consideration the fact that it's year 1 .... I'll give you an example ... I'm currently in a Dynasty, Year 1 has just finished .... Rosters are 18 (9 starters plus 9 bench) .... the idea is that all 18 will be kept, and there will be a mini-draft again in a few months to increase the roster size (probably to either 23 or 25). I haven't finalized all the plans yet, but my initial thoughts are to do something similar :- (a) this year - a starting line-up of 10 plus 11 bench (i.e. Roster of 21) (b) next year - all 21 are kept .... plus 6 IDP's are added and another 6 for the bench ...total roster of 33. I think it's easier to build it over 2 seasons (or more), if the Roster is too big initially, it can all go wrong very quickly. |

I think nfl.com have just added a few new features for this season .... the most interesting of which is an "auction" mechanism for the draft, but I think they've also added customisable draft lengths .... you're correct in that last season it was 90 seconds and no way of avoiding it (unless of course you did an autopick draft or an offline draft). However, I'm still keen to avoid long and boring drafts ...I enjoy my sleep too much to be staying awake just to draft fantasy football players ! |
